Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting a tubular breakout device in a position. An embodiment of the device comprises a first channel in the inside face of the device for receiving a corresponding key of a quill, a socket adjacent to the first channel, and a second channel adjacent to the socket. An embodiment of the device is moved from the engaged position to the disengaged and supported position by the method of moving the device from an engaged position to a disengaged position, rotating the device so that the key of the quill slides into the socket of the device, then moving the device to a secured position by lowering the device so that the key of the quill slides into the second channel of the device.

Abstract: Vanes are generally hollow with a passage through which service pipes extend. These service pipes must be connected such that they can allow for thermal expansion and contraction but also anti rotation features are needed in order to prevent damage when a supply coupling is connected through a pipe end. This anti-rotation feature is generally provided between a top hat and a pipe end through flanges. In order to allow reduced spacing between the top of the vane and a casing the flanges are arranged to allow at least recessing of a first flange into a passage opening profile whereby those flanges inter-engage with second flanges at a surface interface to prevent rotation.

Abstract: A coupling apparatus includes projections projecting axially from circumferential positions on a distal part of an annular body, each projection having an engaging hook projecting in one circumferential direction at an end part thereof. The body and the projections are formed independently of each other, and the apparatus includes a fixing structure for fixing the projections to the positions on the distal part. After inner peripheries of the projections are placed on the outer periphery of the distal part adjacent to an outward overhang, the fixing structure is detachably fixed on the outer periphery in a side of the projections axially opposing to the overhang and has an inward tapering surface fitted on an outward tapering surface of each projection to fix the projections at the predetermined positions on the outer periphery, and includes a cutout exposing the outward tapering surface of at least one projection.

Abstract: An adapter that bridges the connecting ends of a medication providing device and a fluid connector includes a housing shroud that is fitted at one end with a core and at its other end with an inner shroud. Once fitted to the housing shroud, the core and the inner shroud each are not removable from the housing shroud. A catch hub is provided within the housing shroud for non-removably maintaining the core to the housing shroud. The core is rotatable relative to the housing shroud. Sufficient friction is provided between the core and the housing shroud to enable the medication providing device to be readily coupled to the core. Once the medication providing device is coupled to the core, and therefore the adapter, additional rotational movement, in either direction, of the medication providing device would only cause the core to rotate freely relative to the housing shroud, thereby preventing the medication providing device such as a syringe from being removed from the adapter.

The connection having a male or pin end and a mating female, box, or socket end and sections of circumferentially and axially extending protuberances such as thread segments or lugs interrupted by slots extending circumferentially and axially approximately the same distance as the corresponding protuberance section. Both the pin and box have matching or corresponding arrays of interrupted threads and slots. When properly aligned, the array will be accepted by a corresponding slot when mating the pin and box. After proper mating, the connection is secured by rotating the pin or box to further mate the corresponding patches of the pin and box.

Abstract: A vehicle connector assembly includes a positive lock feature that allows a hose to be quickly and easily attached to a vehicle component such as an intake manifold or air induction component. The component includes a projection that extends outwardly from a main body to a distal end. A locking cap is installed over the projection and cooperates with an alignment feature on the projection such that the cap does not separate from the projection prior to installation of the hose. An end of the hose is slidably installed within the locking cap and over the projection. The locking cap is then rotated from an unlocked position to a locked position to prevent linear movement of the hose relative to the projection. The locking cap is made from a resilient material and provides a serviceable connection.

Abstract: This invention is a method and apparatus for making a pressure-containing threaded tubular connection, suitable for remotely operated connection and separation, utilizing electrical heating to reduce the amount of make up torque required to produce reliable preloading of the connection. One aspect of the present invention comprises: 1) a first hub with male threads on its exterior and having a sealing face and axial flow passage, b) a second hub having an axial flow passage and carrying an annular seal which can be mated with the sealing face of the first hub and mounting a rotatable nut having female threads on its interior and integral nut heating means. After stabbing and initial make-up of the connection, the nut is heated and thereby expanded in a controlled manner and the connection retightened. Following cooling, the structural connection is fully preloaded and the annular seal fully compressed so that it seals. Reversing the procedure permits disconnection.
