  • Patent number: 4910856
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for aligning and assembling disk-shaped works having projections on outer peripheries thereof. A vessel-shaped work is positioned and a plurality of disk-shaped works in a stacked condition are guided to a position on the opening edge of the vessel-shaped work by the work guide means, and then the pin provided for up and down movement on the rotary head is either inserted between adjacent ones of the projections of the disk-shaped works or contacted with and stopped by an upper face of one of the projections of the disk-shaped works. Also when the pin is stopped by the upper face of the one projection, as the rotary head is rotated, the pin is moved in the circumferential direction of the disk-shaped works so that it is disengaged from the upper face of the one projection and the engaged with an adjacent one of the projections of the disk-shaped work. Thus, the disk-shaped works are finally rotated in an integral relationship by the pin.

  • Patent number: 4802270
Abstract: A tube is wound into a coil, and the resulting coil of tube is vibrated so that a given point of the tube reciprocates along a helical path. An optical fiber is fed into the coil of tube that is being thus vibrated. Because of the vibration, the inner wall of the tube exerts such a force as to move the optical fiber diagonally upward and forward. This force causes the optical fiber to jump in the tube diagonally upward and forward and slide forward along the inner wall of the tube. The intermittent conveying force exerted by the inner wall of the tube in the direction of the circumference of the coil causes the optical fiber in the tube to travel forward, thereby pulling in additional length of the optical fiber from outside the tube.

  • Patent number: 4785521
Abstract: A method is provided for automatically linking beads or the like, in each of which have a through hole. In this method, a thread having a predetermined length is fastened at one end thereof onto a straight elongated magnetic member and at the other end onto a stationary fixture. A magnetic block is positioned near the elongated magnetic member so that the elongated magnetic member is attracted by the magnetic block in an upward direction, therefore leaving a working space of a desired size between the magnetic block and the elongate magnetic member. The beads or the like ar fed by a feeder into the working space one by one while permitting their through holes to be brought into registry with the free end of the elongated magnetic member. At the time of the registry, the beads or the like will automatically sleeve on the elongated magnetic member and in turn slide downwardly along the thread due to the fact that the elongated magnetic member is attracted in the upward direction.

  • Patent number: 4280266
Abstract: A toy device adapted for threading beads upon a thread or line is disclosed. A container for beads is mounted to a preferably transparent chassis. The container has an outlet port or hole in a lower part thereof through which beads may fall out of the container one-by-one. A first end of the guide wire or like member is mounted substantially in the center of the outlet port. The container is continuously shaken through a hand actuated crank and ratchet gear assembly. As a result of the shaking, the beads undergo a random motion which eventually causes the beads to fall one-by-one through the outlet port onto the guide wire with the guide wire substantially centered in the central aperture of each bead. A bead advancing assembly which comprises two rotatable members having cut-away portions to capture the beads, is operatively associated with an intermediate portion of the guidewire.

  • Patent number: 4231147
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus for installing a cylindrical body, having a plurality of external axial splines, within a stack of annular plates, said plates having radially inner teeth for meshing with said splines. The method includes the placement of a cylindrical alignment tool, having a plurality of external splines, in a position subsequently to be occupied by said cylindrical body. The annular plates are placed about said alignment tool, with the teeth of said annular plates meshing with said alignment tool. Then, an axially compressive force is applied to said stack of plates to maintain axial alignment of the teeth of adjacent plates. This axial compressive force is supplied by a high pressure fluid which is communicated to a piston engaging said stack of plates. Then, the alignment tool is removed while said axial compressive force is retained on said stack of plates.
