  • Patent number: 10145418
Abstract: A bearing assembly comprises an outer ring and an inner ring radially inward of the outer ring and cooperating therewith to form a roller volume. The inner ring has opposed faces including slots extending axially and circumferentially spaced. The slots extend axially to openings into the opposed axial faces and communicate with partial circumferential slots in the inner circumferential surface and in fluid communication with the roller volume through passages in the inner ring. A first plurality of the axial slots has a radial depth increasing from a first of the axial faces to the respective partial circumferential slot. A second plurality of the axial slots has a radial depth increasing from the second of the axial faces to the respective partial circumferential slot. Bearing elements are in the roller volume rollingly disposed against the outer ring and the inner ring.

Abstract: An electric machine may employ a distributed bearing, for example spaced radially outwardly of a longitudinal center of a rotor and stator assembly. The distributed bearing may take the form of a wire race bearing, which positions a rotor assembly relative to a stator assembly to maintain an air gap therebetween. The rotor assembly may be concentrically located within the stator assembly. Electrically insulative fasteners may couple a race assembly to the stator or rotor assembly. Compensation fastener assemblies may couple the wire race assembly to the rotor or stator assembly, to compensate for differential expansion for instance thermal differential expansion along a longitudinal axis of the electric machine. The electric machines may be arranged in series, for example with drive shafts arranged along a common axis, and may be coupled to the same source of motion (e.g., propeller of wind turbine, without or with a gear box).

  • Patent number: 9506541
Abstract: An eccentric bearing for an electrohydraulic piston-pump assembly of a vehicle brake system includes a shaft configured to be driven rotationally about its axis, a bearing ring eccentric relative to the shaft, and, in a gap between the bearing ring and shaft, rolling bodies with different diameters according to a differing width of the gap. When the shaft is rotationally driven, an eccentricity of the bearing ring circulates the shaft more slowly than the rotational speed of the shaft and drives a reciprocating movement of pump pistons which bear against the bearing ring. To ensure that the rolling bodies roll on and circulate the shaft, a radial elasticity loads the rolling bodies with prestress against the shaft and bearing ring. The prestress is caused by an undersize of the bearing ring or by an elastic ring on the shaft, on at least one rolling body or in the bearing ring.

  • Patent number: 8631581
Abstract: A method for forming a wheel bearing apparatus where the end portion of the cylindrical portion is pre-formed as a cylinder prior to its plastic deformation to form the caulking portion. A caulking tool with a punch and a swing shaft abuts against the end portion of the cylinder at a predetermined inclined angle relative to the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder. Teeth on the punch form the face-spline by plastically deforming the end face of the caulking portion. The swing shaft central axis is inclined at an angle relative to a central axis of the wheel hub. The face-spline is formed simultaneously with the formation of the caulking portion by advancing the caulking tool toward the wheel hub. A main shaft is rotated to cause a swing motion of the caulking tool.

Abstract: A method forms ball recirculation and rolling grooves at an inner circumferential surface of a nut for ball screw use in a state free of deviation in axial, circumferential, and radial nut directions. A flange end face is formed with a concave part, then an inner circumferential surface of a blank and an end face and outer circumferential surface of the flange are continuously ground. Due to this, the coaxiality of the blank inner circumferential surface and the flange outer circumferential surface, and the perpendicularity of the flange end face to the blank inner circumferential surface, are made smaller. The blank is plastically worked to form the ball recirculation groove and is cut to form the ball rolling groove while using the concave part as a phase reference, the end face as an axial direction reference, and the outer circumferential surface as a radial direction reference.
