  • Patent number: 11414906
Abstract: Disclosed is a door holder which comprises a planar, rectangular plate the plate constructed with two integral channels, oriented parallel to the left and right edges, respectively, of the rectangular plate. The door holder serves as a means to prop open a heavyweight, commercial door, the subject door being operated by spring-loaded hinges. The door may be continuously held open by means of bracing either edge of the rectangular plate against the outer edge of a doorstop. In conjunction with the placement of an edge of the door holder against the doorstop, one of the integral channels is then mounted so as to straddle the top of the shoulder of the leaf of one spring-loaded hinge. In this manner, the door is forcibly held in an open position, forming a ninety-degree angle between the plane of the door frame and the face of the door.

The leg comprises a fixed length section(22)and an adjustable length section (24). The leg is hingedly connected to the engagement wall and is movable between a bracing position in which it extends at a first angle to the engagement wall and a released position in which it extends at a smaller angle to the engagement wall. The door brace has a released condition in which the leg is in the released position and the adjustable length section of the leg has a first length and a bracing condition in which the leg is in the bracing position and the adjustable length section of the leg has a longer length.

  • Patent number: 8869451
Abstract: A finger guard device is designed to be inserted into a gap between a hinged door and a doorjamb that is created when the door is at least partially open. The finger guard device includes a wedge and a protuberance from the wedge that is shaped and sized to hook over a hinge of the door. The finger guard device is placed to straddle a hinge so that the wedge extends down one side of a hinge and the protuberance hooks over the other side of the hinge. When the finger guard is so placed, the door can not be completely closed and a gap remains between the door and the doorjamb. This gap prevents injury caused by fingers being pinched in doorjambs.
