  • Patent number: 7322661
Abstract: A storage cabinet provides for the secure storage of items against unauthorized access, with ready authorized access The cabinet has an opening extending laterally across the front of the cabinet, and a door having panels carrying latches, the panels being movable laterally between a latched position and an unlatched position, and being pivotally mounted for movement between a lateral orientation, wherein the panels close the opening, and a transverse orientation, wherein the panels allow access to the items stored in the cabinet. A locking arrangement selectively locks the panels in place when latched in position closing the opening, for preventing unauthorized access. When unlatched, the panels can be pivoted to open access through the opening, and can be folded and moved in transverse directions into the cabinet so as to maintain a compact, unobstructed configuration when the cabinet is open.

  • Patent number: 7261342
Abstract: An automatic locking window latch including a housing for holding a handle with a fully integrated bolt for securing a window, and a catch for engaging the window to release the bolt to secure the window, as well as to hold the bolt open to open the window. The catch may include a catch body, a spring guide, and a trigger pin. The spring guide slideably fits over a post attached to the housing for guiding the catch body and positioning a catch spring. In an unlocked position, an external force acting against the trigger pin causes the catch body to slide from between the bolt and a slide surface of the housing along the post. As the catch body moves past the bolt, bolt springs push bolt extensions of the bolt through the housing and into an adjoining window molding to secure the window. The catch spring presses the catch body against the bolt until the handle pulls the bolt from the locked position.

Abstract: Quick release couplings for releasably coupling components of a computer to the computer are disclosed. The quick release coupling mechanisms are generally configured to allow tool-less placement of the components relative to the computer. That is, the quick release coupling mechanisms are configured to perform their couplings without using conventional fasteners such as screws, bolts, etc. By eliminating the use of fasteners, the components may be inserted and removed from the computer without using tools (e.g., tool-less). Furthermore, the quick release couplings are easy to maneuver thereby enabling quick and straightforward assembly and disassembly of the components to and from the computer (e.g., quick release). For example, the components may be inserted and removed by a simple pushing or pulling motion, and/or by a simple flick of a latch or handle.

Abstract: A vending machine cabinet is retained in a closed position by a hook that is engaged by a vertically moveable latch bar that can be latched closed without requiring a solenoid. The latch bar is moved by means of a cam attached to one of the hooks. Prior to engaging the hook, an angled surface of the cam engages a surface defined by the opening in the latch bar. As the door is closed, the cam rotates through an angle thereby lifting the latch bar until the upwardly extending finger of the hook can move through the opening of the latch bar. When the door is fully closed, the surface of the cam is moved from beneath the edge of the opening in the latch bar thereby allowing the latch bar to drop behind the hook, latching the door closed.

Abstract: A fastener for a closure. The fastener has a friction joint which couples first (10) and second (23) elements such that rotational movement there between can occur. The friction joint has a head fastener (28) and a sleeve (24) to which an end load is applied upon axial movement of the fastening taking place during coupling of the first and second elements (10, 23). This end load causes the sleeve (24) to collapse. The fastener has a wedge element (37) mounted for rectilinear movement in a direction substantially transversed to the axis of rotational movement of the friction joint. A drive arrangement (35) couples the wedge element (37) with the second element (23) such that rotation of the second element (23) is translated into the rectilinear movement of the wedge element (37). A removable handle (44) couples via fingers (49) to second element (23).

Abstract: An apparatus for latching a door against a frame has a door pin extending from the door and a handle lever rotatably mounted to the door and having an extending handle pin. A latch bar is mounted for reciprocating travel relative to the frame, the latch bar having a first slot having a cam surface adapted to receive the door pin, and a second slot adapted to receive the handle pin. The latch bar and handle have a first position where the handle pin enters the second slot and the door pin enters the first slot, and a second position where the handle pin contacts the second slot and the cam surface bears against the door pin. Rotation of the handle when the latch bar is in the first position causes the handle pin to bear against the second slot, moving the latch bar in a latching direction from the first position to the second position, so that the first slot on the cam surface bears against the door pin and urges the door in a closing direction.

  • Patent number: 6443508
Abstract: A device for interlocking two disc-like parts (2, 3) comprises a locking element (4), which presents first locking means (5) for fixing the locking element to a first one (3) of the parts, and second locking means (6) for fixing the second one (3) of the parts in relation to the locking element, and thereby in relation to the first part (2) as the latter and the locking element are interconnected. The first locking means (5) of the locking element and the first part (2) comprise a first set of first and second locking members (6′, 7) engaging each other. These first and second locking members are designed as a projection (6′) and a recess (7), respectively. These are mobile into engagement with each other in a direction (R1) which forms an angle that is preferably generally perpendicular in relation to the plane (3) of the first part (2).

Abstract: An improved lock mechanism for connecting an upper lid portion to a lower box portion is provided. The upper lid portion is provided with a locking pin extending downwardly from a lower surface of the upper lid portion. The lower box section has a vertical pin receiving socket extending from an opening in an upper surface of the lower box portion to receive the locking pin. The pin receiving socket opens into a horizontal slide bore extending from an opening in a front surface of the lower box section. A lock button, having a lock slot and a slide slot, is slidably disposed within the slide bore between a forward extended position and a depressed rearward position. A spring biases the lock button to the forward extended position. In the forward extended position, the lock slot secures the upper lid to the lower box by releasably engaging the enlarged head of the locking pin, which extends through the pin receiving socket into the slide bore.

The support mechanism constructs a pivot and a holding groove at the upper portion and, at the body, a cam trough, a button groove, and another groove for accommodating a retaining member to further hold a first spring. The cam is formed as saw type teeth at a peripheral thereof, and each tooth of the cam has a notch engageable with a position button. By applying the single-button support mechanism, the turning means can utilize the cam moving in the cam trough for engaging with the upper portion at a selected angle, and utilize the position button movable in the button groove for controlling the opening or closing of the upper portion.
