  • Patent number: 5911763
Abstract: A three point lock mechanism includes a lower deadbolt which respectively engage the threshold and lintel of a door or other hinged panel, in addition to the central jamb deadbolt. The mechanism utilizes a conventional deadbolt lock set for the central jamb deadbolt, with a generally circular plate being attached to the lock set to rotate therewith when the lock is turned to lock or unlock the door. An upper and a lower deadbolt actuation rod extend from the plate, and serve to actuate respectively the upper and lower deadbolts of the system by a pivoting actuator at each deadbolt. The two rods are pivotally secured to the plate 135 degrees from one another, in order to provide an overcenter weight bias of the rods to urge the upper and lower deadbolts to a retracted position when retracted, and to an extended position when extended.

  • Patent number: 5791700
Abstract: A locking system for a window sash comprises a lock handle assembly, reciprocating rod members connected to the lock handle assembly, and rotatable cam assemblies connected to the rod members. Each cam assembly has a cam element which upon reciprocation of its respective rod element moves into and out of a cam keeper which is mounted on an adjacent window sash. Each rod member has a rod tip which moves into and out of a channel provided in the window frame. In a first operation of the lock handle assembly, the rod members are reciprocated inwardly to rotate the cam elements out of their respective cam keeper and to move the rod tips partially out of the frame channels which allows the window sash to be moved vertically within the channels. A further operation of the lock handle assembly moves the rod tips entirely out of the channels to allow the window sash to be tilted.

  • Patent number: 5778708
Abstract: A door locking mechanism is disclosed including a door locking member in communication with a lock-actuated bolt which selectively allows rotation of a rotatable actuator plate member. The rotating actuator plate member is attached to a rotatable handle and to a plurality of actuator bars which move locking bolts so as to selectively prevent opening of the door. The rotatable actuator plate member enables all of the actuators to be moved from a single location so that a plurality of cams, etc., are not needed to move locking bolts positioned about the perimeter of the door between open and locking positions. In an additional aspect of the invention, horizontally extending actuator bars are adjustably attached to elongate locking bars having a plurality of locking bolts attached thereto, so as to enable assembly of the locking structures of the door locking mechanism without assembly, and to enable interchangeability of parts.

  • Patent number: 5472247
Abstract: A locking mechanism which provides a number of resistance points, all of which function to impede the opening of a door located on the chassis of a lottery dispensing machine or any other enclosure that must be secured. The locking mechanism includes a rotating cam which sets the lock in motion. Rotation of the cam is translated into reciprocating motion of a number of bolts which move into a locked position. Once the bolts are in a fully locked position, movement of the door is impeded. If two bolts are used, they face in opposite directions. If more than two bolts are used, they all face in different directions. This makes the lock impossible to jimmy. Further, to successfully pry open the lock would require an effort great enough to cause substantial structural damage to the enclosure itself. A cam extension is also provided which provides extra resistance when the locking mechanism is in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 5090750
Abstract: A locking mechanism for windows having upper and lower sashes slidably disposed in a window frame. In the locked position of the mechanism, locking bolts mounted on the transverse rail of one sash engage a sidewall of a guide groove in the window frame, thereby forcing that sash towards the other sash to effect a better seal between the sashes. Optionally, at least one sash clamp mounted on a transverse rail of one sash is adapted to engage a cooperating receiving element affixed to the adjacent transverse rail of the other sash. In the unlocked position of the mechanism, the sash clamp disengages the receiving element, and the locking bolts release contact with the sidewall of the guide groove while still remaining within the groove. The locking mechanism also has a release position in which the locking bolts are retracted from the guide groove to permit the sash to be moved transversely for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5042869
Abstract: A locking arrangement for coupling a top with the windshield frame of a motor vehicle includes an actuating device arranged on a front frame part of the top approximately in the area of a longitudinal center plane of the vehicle. The actuating device, by way of transversely extending connecting elements, is connected to laterally exterior locking elements. The locking elements, when the top is in a closed position, interact with receiving devices mounted at the windshield frame. The receiving devices are only accessible from above in order to create a locking arrangement which, while having a simple mounting, ensures a good operation and enables large travel movements to be achieved in the vertical direction. The receiving devices are each formed by a closing part fastened to the windshield on which an approximately horizontally extending bolt is locally mounted.

  • Patent number: 4984832
Abstract: An improvement of locking mechanisms having four latching bolts of the type that include a partially teethed disk mounted to a case and being cooperatively meshed with a geared cylinder that actuates it. The improvement comprises a step of bending of the linkage member that, through a rod, transmits the axial movement to the latching bolts. The axial movement is forced on the rod members by making coupling outer pins connected to the rod members to travel along radially disposed slots on the cover of the locking mechanism. The step in the linkage members allows linkage members to converge over the opposite ends of adjacent linkage members when the disk is rotated to the position that causes the former to be in the innermost position. This combination of elements allows the most volumetric efficient utilization of the space available by maximizing the axial travel of outer guiding pin member and, consequently, the latching bolts driven by it.
