Abstract: A collapsible and portable reclining chair includes a leg assembly, a seat assembly defining a seat support and a back support, and an independently movable leg rest support. Such a chair can be folded and unfolded between a set-up condition of the chair for use, and a collapsed and folded condition of the chair for transport and/or storage. In use, the seat assembly can be shifted between an upright position and a reclined position where the back support angularly pivots backwards. In use, the leg rest support can be pivotally shifted from a lowered position to an upright position relative to the seating assembly—operating similar to a conventional LA-Z-BOY recliner using a handle disposed on a side of the chair frame that is moved by the user to effectuate movement of the leg rest support independent of any reclining adjustment of the seat assembly.

Abstract: Apparatus to facilitate putting on and removing footwear. The apparatus may be swivelably coupled to a chair where handles are provided to rotate an arm which is coupled to a footrest. By moving the arm, which is at seat level, the footrest is movable between a stowed position and an operative, forward position.
Abstract: An article of seating furniture includes a base, a seat and a back. The back includes a reclining mechanism. The seat is interconnected with the reclining mechanism such that reclining movement of the back moves the seat forwardly and upwardly. When the back is fully reclined and the seat is fully raised, an upper surface of the seat is coplanar with an upper surface of the back. A footrest is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. When extended, the footrest is generally coplanar with the seat. The back includes a spine having a lower end pivotably interconnected with the base. The spine includes a seat mounting extension to which the seat is pivotably mounted. Mounting links between the seat and the base provide movement of the seat when the back is reclined.

Abstract: An apparatus including an elongate post having a first end and a second end; a clamp coupled to the first end of the post, the clamp including a dimension suitable to couple to a seat frame of a chair; a leg support frame including a first portion pivotally coupled to the second end of the post and a second portion; and a leg support coupled to the second portion of the leg support frame. A method including coupling a leg support assembly to a chair, the leg support assembly including a leg support frame, wherein in a coupled configuration with a chair on a surface, coupling includes coupling such that a first portion of the leg support frame is in contact with the surface.
Abstract: The invention relates to a birthing chair comprising a pedestal (10) and a seat part (16) located on the pedestal, said seat part consisting of a seat base (22), a backrest (24) and foot supports (28) that are positioned at the sides of the seat base (22) and project forwards in relation to the latter. Said chair has a substantially horizontal delivery platform (32), which is attached to the birthing chair in such a way that it can be displaced between the first position, in which it lies almost completely beneath the seat base (22), and a second position, in which it lies between the foot supports (28) in front of the seat base (22), when viewed from a vertical perspective.
Abstract: An extensible footrest, particularly for armchairs, sofas and the like, which comprises a frame adapted to be hinged to a frame of a seat of an armchair, sofa or the like, the footrest frame being constituted by a first pair of lateral arms and by a second pair of lateral arms which are slideable with respect to the first pair of lateral arms, at least one actuator being rigidly connected to the seat frame at one end and to the footrest frame at an opposite end, in order to transfer the footrest frame from a first retracted inactive position to an extended active position.
Abstract: A personal hygiene seat assembly for providing a comfortable and stable reclined seat assembly for performing personal hygiene needs such as shampooing and shaving of the elderly of handicapped at home using a conventional sink. The personal hygiene seat assembly includes a base member designed for removably coupling to a seat portion of a chair, a back member hingedly coupled to the base member, and a seat member having a bottom portion coupled to the base member and designed for supporting a person sitting on the personal hygiene seat assembly, the seat member further has a backing portion coupled to the back member and designed for supporting a back of the person using the personal hygiene seat assembly when the person is in a reclined position.
Abstract: A vehicle designed to survive mines exploding underneath it has an impact absorbing seat assembly for holding a human occupant of the vehicle. The assembly includes a seat having lower and upper seat members and includes a mechanism connected to the floor and the seat for absorbing the impact of the vehicle floor's buckling upward due to a mine blast. A plate is connected to the lower seat member just behind the legs of the occupant, and the plate swings on a hinge mounted to the lower seat member. In its normal position, the plate forms an acute angle with the floor and a lip of the plate contacts the floor such that the lip curves away from the seat. When the floor buckles upward, the plate swings outward relative to the seat, carrying the occupant's legs with it, thereby avoiding a vertical load transferring from the floor up the occupant's legs to the occupant's knees.
