  • Patent number: 9126343
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a folding knife, which includes an actuation element having one side provided with a pushing member and a sliding member and an opposite side provided with a locking member. The pushing member extends out of a handle through a pushing slide groove of the handle. The sliding member extends into a positioning slide groove of the handle and is located in an elastic ring. The locking member can extend into a curved groove of a blade. Once the blade is fully rotated out of the handle, the pushing member can be pushed toward the tip of the blade, causing the sliding member to pass through a limiting portion of the elastic ring and enter a locking area of the elastic ring. Consequently, the locking member is engaged in an opened-state locking groove of the curved groove and locks the blade in an opened state.

Abstract: The invention discloses a utility knife preventing its blade from accidental detachment. Prior utility knives may lose constraint on the blade due to tilting of the retaining member when the blade receives external force from the blade holder pulling outward, causing the blade to detach accidentally from the blade holder. In the present invention, the line of the action force in the engagement area of blade and retaining member extends over the axis of axle pin where the retaining member is mounted, so that when the blade receives external force pulling it outward from the blade holder, a counterclockwise torque is formed to the retaining member to allow the retaining member constrain the blade more tightly and thus prevent the blade from accidental detachment.

  • Patent number: 8621753
Abstract: A utility knife includes a handle, a blade holder assembly, a spare blade carrier, a spare blade dispenser, and an actuator. The blade holder assembly is constructed and arranged to hold a blade at a position of use at one end of the handle. The spare blade carrier is disposed in the handle, and is configured to carry a plurality of spare blades. The spare blade dispenser is constructed to separate one of the spare blades from the plurality thereof and present the one separated blade to the user. The actuator is operatively associated with the blade dispenser, wherein movement of the actuator moves the blade dispenser to separate the one spare blade from the plurality to present the one separated blade to the user.

Abstract: A knife including a handle, a blade, and a frame at least partially within the handle, the frame including a first locking member and a second locking member, the first locking member is at least partially formed from a leaf spring portion of the frame, the second locking member is at least partially formed from a second leaf spring portion of the frame. The second locking member engages the blade to retain the blade in a retracted position and the second locking member is movable out of engagement with the blade to allow movement of the blade from the retracted position to an extended position. The first locking member engages the blade to retain the blade in the extended position and the first locking member is movable out of engagement with the blade to allow movement of the blade from the extended position to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 8601699
Abstract: A utility knife includes a handle having a blade track system with a pivot point and a blade mounted in the blade track system. The blade includes a cutting/scraping edge extending along a side of the blade. In an implementation, the blade is shiftable between a closed configuration, where the cutting/scraping edge is enclosed within the handle, to a first open configuration, where the blade extends longitudinally outward from an end of the handle. The shift between the closed and first open configurations can occur by rotating the blade about the pivot point and in the blade track system. Also, the blade is shiftable along the blade track system between the first open configuration and a second open configuration, where the blade is located towards another end of the handle such that the cutting/scraping edge extends downwards from a bottom of the handle.

  • Patent number: 8595942
Abstract: A safe utility knife is provided having a housing, a blade sliding seat, a pushing force generator, an acceleration detector, a stopper, a stopper pushing portion, and a sliding switch. When activated with a blade protruding out, and an acceleration due to a sudden dropping movement occurs, the acceleration detector moves from a low acceleration position to a high acceleration position. It also presses down the sliding switch and the stopper so that the stopper moves from a locking position to a non-locking position. The blade sliding seat is pulled by the pulling force generator to a blade storing position to protect against accidental injury. The knife can be operated by one hand and is suitable for regular blades available on the market. In addition, it can be switched to manual automatic blade returning mode.

Abstract: An asymmetrical cutting tool has a partially cord-wrapped handle with a first handle panel, a second handle panel, and an intercheangeable overlay. The cutting tool further includes a folding blade, pivotably attached to the cord-wrapped/overlaid handle, and having a partially concave edge and a punch tip. The folding blade is operable to transition between a locked state and an unlocked state. Lock wear is compensated by dual eccentric thumb studs which act as a camshaft lobe to alter the position of the blade with respect to the lock while in the locked state. The partially cord-wrapped handle is configured to receive the folding blade when the blade transitions from the locked state into the unlocked state.

  • Patent number: 8584367
Abstract: A pocketknife has a handle, a blade, an assistant assembly and a locking assembly. The handle has a cavity defined in the handle. The blade is mounted pivotally at one end of the handle. The assistant assembly is mounted on the handle, assists to extend the blade out or retract the blade in the cavity and has a dial, a biasing lever and a spring. The dial is mounted rotatably in the handle and is connected securely on a proximal end of the blade. The biasing lever is mounted in the handle and is mounted eccentrically and pivotally on the dial. The spring is mounted around the biasing lever and biases the biasing lever to rotate the dial in two rotational directions to retract or extend the blade. The assistant assembly assists the user to open or close the pocketknife.
