Handles And Blade Connections Patents (Class 30/340)
  • Patent number: 6763747
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shock absorbing hammer and handle assembly. The shock absorbing hammer includes a hammer head including a striking portion, a shaft connected to the hammer head, and a hand grip. In accordance with aspects of the present invention, a hand grip assembly suitable for use with the shock absorbing hammer includes a shell defining an outer surface and an inner cavity. An inner elastomeric layer lines the inner cavity and defines an opening adapted to receive the shaft of the item. An outer elastomeric layer surrounds the outer surface of the shell. In particular embodiments of the handle grip, the outer elastomeric layer is formed with first and second elastomeric materials, which may define different durometer hardnesses. Still further, the inner elastomeric layer may also be formed with the first elastomeric material. In accordance with another aspects of the present invention, methods of making the novel handle grip are also presented.

Abstract: The present invention provides a knife with a replaceable blade which is spring-biased in the retracted position. The knife is designed such that the blade can only be extended by exerting a downward force and by turning the handle with respect to an inner housing. The handle has a tab affixed to the inside wall of the handle. The inner housing has an angled slot in its wall adapted to receive the tab. When the blade is fully retracted, the tab rests on the shoulder at the top of the inner housing. A straight downward pressure on the handle causes the tab to engage the shoulder and will not allow the blade to extend. When the handle is rotated, the tab enters the slot and the blade is forced downward. As this occurs, the blade extends through a slot at the bottom of a blade cover. When the blade is removed from the object to be cut, the spring forces the handle to move with respect to the inner housing and causes the blade to retract within the blade cover.

  • Patent number: 6453563
Abstract: A hand tool handle has two interlocking first and second hollow molded plastic parts. The first part is formed with a peripheral lip. The second part is formed with transversely disposed peripheral surfaces inwardly disposed of the peripheral lip. Each handle part is formed a first plastic material and with a molded over second softer plastic material which covers the hand grip portion but not the peripheral lip or the peripheral surfaces. A tool blade is disposed between the interlocked handle parts. Rivets and a grommet provide pressed engagement of the handle parts with tight sealing of the peripheral lip. The hollow handle parts have respective facingly opposed structural ribs having respective spacedly disposed free ends to maximize the pressing engagement and insure sealing the peripheral lip.

  • Patent number: 6408524
Abstract: Tableware grip structure with comfortable touch feeling including a grip and a fitting body. A front end of the grip is disposed with a fitting section formed with a fitting slot at front end for fitting with a tableware. The grip is formed with multiple arch bulge sections and multiple recessed sections which are interlaced with each other. Each recessed section is formed with at least one through hole. The fitting body is correspondingly fixedly fitted on the recessed sections of the grip. The outer circumferences of the bulge sections and the fitting body together form a waved face for a user's hand to more snugly hold and more conveniently turn the grip and achieve a more comfortable touching feeling.

  • Patent number: 6402725
Abstract: A cup of plastics material incorporating foaming agents has thin wall portions, namely a base (101), a lower side wall (102) and an upper side wall (103). These portions have their wall thickness determined by mold part gap. The cup also has thick wall portions, namely the corner (104), the band (105) and the rim (106), in which foaming occurs after mold opening so that the wall thickness is increased beyond that provided by the mold.

  • Publication number: 20020066351
Abstract: There is provided a mounting member to be detachably screwed onto the rotary shaft of a power tool, and during the attachment and detachment of the mounting member to and from the power tool, a part for clamping and integrally securing a rotary cutter between an inner flange and an outer flange which functions as a lock nut is constructed by fitting a claw of the inner flange onto a fitting groove formed in the outer flange. Owing to this construction, it is possible to highly precisely and integrally secure the mounting member to individual rotary cutters.

  • Patent number: 6393704
Abstract: A self-leveling eating utensil having a handle and a food carrier rotatably coupled to the handle. The food carrier may be coupled to a shank which is, in turn, rotatably coupled to the handle. The food carrier is positioned offset from the handle and the shank to weight itself into a self-leveling position with the food-carrying surface thereof positioned to carry food without spillage. A weight is preferably provided on the shank to further weight the food carrier into the self-leveling position. The weight may be formed at the free end of the shank opposite the food carrier. In a preferred embodiment, the weight is formed as a bend in the free end of the shank in a direction toward the food carrier. Preferably, the handle is formed to permit decoupling to clean the interior thereof and recoupling to use the eating utensil once again after cleaning. Such handle is formed from first and second handle halves which are readily coupled, decoupled, and recoupled.
