  • Patent number: 6354005
Abstract: A shaving apparatus has a housing (1), a shaving head (2) and a hair-collecting chamber (3) for collecting hair cuttings, the shaving head comprising a holder (4) which is connected to the housing by means of a hinge construction (15). The holder comprises an external cutting member (6) and an internal cutting member (8). For driving the internal cutting member a drive member (11) of a drive unit (10) can be coupled to the internal cutting member (8). For cleaning the hair-collecting chamber (3) the chamber is opened by pivoting the holder (4) and after the cleaning process the holder is pivoted back onto the housing. During opening and closing of the hair-collecting chamber the drive member (11) and the internal cutting member (8) are coupled and uncoupled. In order to improve coupling and uncoupling the hinge construction is such that in a first stage of the movement of the holder the holder is moved substantially in a longitudinal direction (14) of the drive member (11).

  • Publication number: 20020017022
Abstract: An inner cutter for an electric rotary shaver, the inner cutter comprising a cutter supporting member and an inner cutter body. The cutter supporting member has a ring-form body formed in a shape of a flat plate and is provided with a plurality of upright supporting portions that rise from an outer-circumferential edge of the ring-form body and are lined up side by side. The inner cutter body is formed on the tip end of each one of the upright supporting portions. Gaps are formed between adjacent upright supporting portions, and ribs are provided between the adjacent upright supporting portions, thus allowing cut hair to be discharged out of the inner cutter through openings defined by the adjacent upright supporting portions and ribs.

  • Patent number: 6305083
Abstract: A housing (1) of an apparatus has a plastics wall portion (2) provided with a plastics panel (4). To make a reliable and visually acceptable connection of the panel (4) to the wall portion (2), the panel is fixed to the wall portion by means of an induction welding process. In this way the connection is resistant to chemical compounds like lotions. Therefore a metal element (8) of electric conducting material having the shape of a closed loop wire is inserted between the wall portion (2) and the panel (4) and subsequently an electromagnetic field is applied in close proximity to the element. Preferably such panel (4) can be used to cover an opening (11) in the wall portion (2) for a display (10) and/or a switch (15) function. To make the housing watertight the element (8) between the panel (4) and the wall portion (2) should surround the opening (3,11).

Abstract: An electric rotary shaver with one or a plurality of circular outer cutter units each formed with a plurality of blade formation regions of annular shapes concentrically arranged. The blade formation regions located outermost are formed greater in thickness than other blade formation regions(s), and hair-entry slits extending in the radial direction are formed in the blade formation regions so as to form slit-form blades. Thus, the slit-form blades in the blade formation regions other the outermost blade formation region is thinner than those of the outermost blade formation region thus allowing deep shaving and assuring a strength of the outer cutter unit.
