  • Patent number: 7722133
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system for a vehicle includes a brake having a wheel cylinder that applies a braking force to a wheel, and a pressurizing device. The pressurizing device pressurizes the brake liquid and includes a suction portion for sucking a brake liquid, and additionally includes an output portion connected to the wheel cylinder. A linear solenoid valve includes at least one housing, and is connected to the wheel cylinder and to the suction portion of the pressurizing device. The solenoid valve includes a valve portion having a reciprocating valve member and a valve seat opposed to the valve member. A biasing member biases the valve member in one direction and a solenoid applies a drive force to the valve member in an opposite direction. In addition, a hydraulic-pressure-decrease restraining device restrains a decrease of pressure of the brake liquid in the housing.

  • Patent number: 7717399
Abstract: A solenoid valve for a slip control system in a vehicle is disclosed. A flow passage is provided in which working fluid such as oil that generates a break hydraulic pressure flows from the side of a solenoid valve through a filter, flows to the front of a plunger through a side hole formed in a valve body of the solenoid valve, and then flows along the side of valve body, that is, is discharged out of an outlet through a side space between valve body and a valve seat. Therefore, linear pressure control is easy because working fluid flows into toward the front of valve plunger through a side inlet of solenoid valve and the entire size is reduced because a special channel for guiding working fluid to the front of the valve plunger is not needed in a pump housing case.

The vehicle brake system includes a proportional pressure control valve for generating braking liquid pressure by adjusting the braking energy stored in the auxiliary pressure source. A passage transmits the liquid pressure generated by a brake pedal stroke, a switching valve opens the passage in the powered condition and closes the passage in the off-powered condition, and an auxiliary control portion activates the proportional pressure control valve. Even in the off-powered condition, the high pressure accumulated in the auxiliary pressure source can be used to adjust the required braking liquid pressure at the proportional pressure control valve.

The brake fluid pressure retaining unit includes an electromagnetic valve which is provided midway in a brake fluid channel connecting a master cylinder and a wheel cylinder and is capable of freely opening/closing the brake fluid channel by passing current though a solenoid coil; and an electromagnetic valve control section which detects a release signal indicative of releasing brake operation detected by a brake operation detecting section and passes current through the solenoid coil while referring to current values corresponding to a target maintaining fluid pressure to maintain a predetermined braking force.

Abstract: A normally closed electromagnetic valve is closed again after temporarily being opened during an abnormality check of the valve. When the valve is opened, electricity is supplied so that a plunger is moved by a coil but a back face of the plunger does not abut against a receiving face of a fixed portion. Because the plunger does not strike the fixed portion, no impact noise is generated. Also, when the valve is closed, the electricity is not instantly dropped to zero, but is gradually reduced. As a result, impact noise when the valve strikes the valve seat is able to be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7011379
Abstract: A control circuit for a controllable electric solenoid valve of a brake system of a motor vehicle is described, in which the actual values of a controlled variable (f(t)), e.g., the vehicle deceleration, a wheel slip, a driving speed, an angle of rotation or the like are returned to a predetermined tolerance band. The actual value of the controlled variable is measured continuously and compared with the predetermined tolerance band, which is stored in an EEPROM, for example. If the actual value of the controlled variable leaves the predetermined tolerance band (22), a correction device (15) intervenes and returns the actual value to the predetermined tolerance band by increasing or decreasing the trigger current for the solenoid valve (1).

  • Patent number: 7011378
Abstract: The present invention provides a proportional microvalve having a first, second and third layer, and having high aspect ratio geometries. The first layer defines a cavity with inlet and outlet ports. The second layer, doped to have a low resistivity and bonded between the first and third layers, defines a cavity having a flow area to permit fluid flow between the inlet and outlet ports. The second layer further defines an actuatable displaceable member, and one or more thermal actuators for actuating the displaceable member to a position between and including an open and a closed position to permit or occlude fluid flow. The third layer provides one wall of the cavity and provides electrical contacts for electrically heating the thermally expandable actuators. The thermal actuators and the displaceable member have high aspect ratios and are formed by deep reactive ion etching such that they are displaceable in the plane of the second layer while being very stiff out of the plane.

  • Patent number: 6994406
Abstract: A control valve includes a magnetic pole member. An armature is slidably supported relative to the magnetic pole member for movement between a fully open position and a closed position. A biasing spring is disposed between the magnetic pole member and the armature for forcing the armature away from the magnetic pole member. A coil is placed about the magnetic pole member and the armature for inducing a magnetic field for moving the armature toward the magnetic pole member. One of either of the magnetic pole member or the armature has a recess for non-contactingly receiving the other when the armature moves between the fully open and closed positions. The control valve can be embodied as a normally open valve or a normally closed valve. The use of dual lateral poles and triple lateral poles create a flat magnetic force versus travel curve thereby allowing for greater proportional control of the valve.

Abstract: A method is provided for measuring a pressure of a hydraulic fluid that is supplied from a hydraulic fluid control device (1) to a operation device (6). The method includes measurement of a first pressure (Pm) and a second pressure (Pa). The first pressure is the pressure of the hydraulic fluid within a first flow path (P3 to P8) connecting a pressure control unit (3) and the operation device. The second pressure is the pressure of the hydraulic fluid within a second flow path (P11, P12) connecting an accumulator (22) and the pressure control unit. Then, a stabilization time (T) is determined. The stabilization time is the time when a pressure gradient per unit time of the second pressure become to be smaller than a predetermined value. Thereafter, a pressure (Pw) of the hydraulic fluid at the operation device is determined based on the first pressure that is measured at the stabilization time or at a time immediately after the stabilization time.
