Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to a hollow-cylindrical coreless winding for an electric motor. The winding includes a plurality of single coils which are distributed across the circumference of the winding, wherein each single coil includes a plurality of turns which are spirally wound around a winding axis which is perpendicular to an axis of the winding. Successive single coils overlap in a roof tile manner. The winding includes at least two phase windings, each of the phase windings consisting of several ones of the single coils. The phase windings are offset with respect to each other in the circumferential direction of the hollow-cylindrical winding, so that the single coils of a first phase winding are disposed in the circumferential direction of the hollow-cylindrical winding between the single coils of a second phase winding. Each of the phase windings is wound from a continuous wire.

  • Patent number: 9444291
Abstract: An electromagnetic drive mechanism (10) comprises a rotor (50) configured to rotate within a stator (30). The rotor (50) and stator (30) have multiple poles (56, 36), wherein each pole comprises a radial inner portion (564, 362) and a radial outer portion (562, 364). The radial inner portions (564, 362) and radial outer portions (562, 364) of the rotor (50) and stator (30) have different heights, forming a step (566, 366) between the radial inner and outer portions of the rotor (50) and stator (30). This configuration allows for overlapping radial surfaces in addition to overlapping axial surfaces during operation of the drive mechanism (10), thereby increasing the total overlap area and thus the reluctance torque, and potentially improving response speed while allowing for a more compact device (10).

  • Patent number: 8901798
Abstract: A two-phase switched reluctance machine is provided using discontinuous core structures as the stator for low-cost, high-performance drives. This discontinuous stator core structure contains short flux paths and maximum overlap between the rotor poles and stator poles in the stator discontinuous core structures, regardless of the rotor position. Example configurations of such core structure include E-core, L-core and I-core configurations. Using less steel and magnet wire than in conventional SRM designs results in cost savings of stator material and winding material. Efficiency of this novel SRM is improved because of shorter flux paths resulting in reduction of core losses and decreased phase resistance resulting in reduction of copper losses. Two-phase simultaneous excitation of the novel SRM can reduce torque ripple during commutation as compared with existing two-phase SRMs.

Abstract: Rotors assemblies usable in energy storage devices and power systems include a plurality of laminations oriented in vertical alignment, a first plate contacting a first side of the laminations, a second plate contacting a second side of the laminations, and at least one fastener engaged with the plates to compressively retain the laminations and limit relative movement of the laminations. Fasteners can engage the plates via an interference fit and pass through a clearance in the laminations sized to limit contact between the fasteners and the laminations during rotation of the rotor assembly. The laminations can be arranged with a thicker region of a first lamination above a thinner region of a second to form a stacked pair, and multiple stacked pairs can be rotationally offset from one another.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a switched reluctance motor assembly, wherein a lower balancing part, which becomes a target to be cut for balancing, includes a lower balancing part body installed on a lower surface of a rotor part and an encoder protruding on a lower surface of the lower balancing part body. In the present invention, the encoder, which is a portion of a balancing part, becomes a target to be cut, thereby making it possible to more effectively perform balancing even with a smaller amount of cutting as compared with the prior art.

Abstract: A washing machine includes a water tub, an electric motor, and a control device. The motor comprises a stator including a stator coil, a rotor magnet arranged circumferentially with respect to the rotor, and a control device. The rotor magnet includes a permanent magnet. When the control device applies a first voltage to the stator coil in a wash step of the washing operation, the rotor magnet is magnetized so that a magnetic flux of the rotor magnet acting on the stator is increased without reversal of a direction of magnetization. When the control device applies a second voltage to the stator soil in a dehydration step of the washing operation, the rotor magnet is magnetized so that a magnetic flux of the rotor magnet acting on the stator is reduced without reversal of a direction of magnetization as compared with the magnetic flux in the wash step.
