  • Patent number: 4186317
Abstract: An electric motor of the type including a housing, a shaft extending through the housing, blower blades mounted on the shaft and an endplate mounted on the housing is improved due to the inclusion of a partial baffle formed with the endplate and extending toward and in proximity with the blower blades for forming a partial annular spaced interface with the blower blades.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 3, 1978
Date of Patent: January 29, 1980
    Inventor: Hollis D. Sisk
  • Patent number: 4107560
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine wherein rotor cooling is effected by cooling channels located in the stator structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 6, 1975
Date of Patent: August 15, 1978
Assignee: SKF Industrial Trading and Development Company B.V.

  • Patent number: 3978354
Abstract: Electrical machines comprising a rotatable armature and permanent magnets surrounding and separated from the armature by air gaps having a length to width ratio not greater than 60:1 and a minimum width of 0.040 inch irrespective of the length to width ratio, thereby allowing cooling air to be circulated through the air gaps as well as through the annular gaps between the magnets. Such machines have a substantially higher steady state power output than permanent magnet machines of the same overall dimensions designed in accord with conventional techniques because of materially improved armature cooling.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 1972
Date of Patent: August 31, 1976
    Assignee: Rockwell International Corporation
