Abstract: The specification discloses a novel method and apparatus for utilizing the void spaces previously present in kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and the like. The solid front panel normally present in front of the depression serving as the bathroom or kitchen sink is hingedly mounted to swing forwardly and outwardly for an angle of at least 90.degree.. To this panel there is mounted a shelf having a forward portion hingedly mounted to the panel adapted to swing forwardly and outwardly, and a rear portion complimentary in shape to the space available under the vanity. The shelf has perpendicular sides and thus there is formed substantially a rectangular shelf with a cutaway complimentary in shape to the sink being utilized. The rear of the shelf is provided with a pin assembly which rides on a pair of rails mounted on the inside side walls of the cabinet at an angle, preferably 221/2.degree.
Abstract: A curtain suspension device comprising a curtain board having a horizontal hole at each end for fastening upon a pair of stem brackets, each of which comprising a wall plate having peripheral holes for fastening to a wall by means of screws, and a central threaded hole receiving a correspondingly threaded stem extending at right angles to the wall surface to receive the curtain board at its outer end, and a spring clip adapted to clamp one upper corner of a curtain against the wall. The wall plate of said stem bracket is provided, diametrically opposite to a peripheral hole therein, with a slot in the form of an arc of a circle the center of which coincides with the center of said hole, and the wall plates of said two stem brackets are mounted or adapted to be mounted in a manner such that the symmetry axis through the peripheral hole, the center hole and the slot of said two wall plates intersect at an angle of 90.degree.
Abstract: The disclosure teaches a book-holding apparatus to be used with a kitchen cabinet and the like. A leaf, to be used as a book-holder, is provided with means for retaining the book on the upper surface of the leaf and means to hold the book open at a desired page. The leaf is enclosed in a box frame having two spaced sides and a back. Means for supporting the leaf within the frame is provided as a slot carried in each side and back of the frame. At the front of the frame the slot expands upwardly and downwardly. A flange extending from a surface of the leaf is adapted to engage a first stop member to limit the forward movement of the leaf relative the frame. When it is thus limited the forward end of the leaf is outward and its weight causes the leaf to rotate about the first stop member. The rotation of the leaf is limited by a second stop member defined by a forward wall in the upward vault of the slot which engages the upper surface of the back end of the leaf as the leaf pivots about the first stop member.
Abstract: A storage module for receiving recording tape containers includes a bottom wall having a plurality of elongated, parallel, channel-like trays slidably engaged therein. A plurality of partition-forming insert members are snugly engaged within the trays and divide the same longitudinally into separate compartments having internal dimensions commensurate with the external dimensions of selected containers for snugly receiving the containers therein.
Abstract: A relocatable furniture system where caster mounted cabinets may be rolled into engagement with a wall mounted support rail and releasably captured thereby with the rail supporting the cabinet at its rear from the wall with the cabinet off its rear casters. The front casters are adjustable to level the cabinet.
Abstract: The drawings disclose a closure mechanism for an ashtray and the like, including a pivotal cover member and a "U" shaped leaf spring, the cover member having detent projections formed on a portion thereof for cooperation with the spring. The spring exerts a force on the detent projections to retain the cover member in its closed position. The detent projections force the spring outwardly while the cover member is pivoted through a predetermined angle until the detent projections are pivoted over-center, after which the spring retains the cover member in its open position.
Abstract: An adjustable bracket for wall units in which a casing is fastenable to the interior of a piece of furniture. A bracket element is hangable on a wall hook and is held in the casing by an adjusting element. The bracket element is pivotally mounted in the casing, and an adjusting screw is provided with a head having a convex support on a side of the casing. This convex support conforms to a seat for the adjusting screw in the casing. A spacer is mounted in the screw seat in the casing and abuts against a mounting panel. The spacer and the bracket extend through an opening in a rear plane of the casing for concealing the bracket. The piece of furniture is accurately positionable by interaction of the bracket and the spacer so that any change in position of the spacer, results in a change of the angle of the bracket to the wall.
Abstract: A kitchen cabinet is disclosed which includes a pivot support for supporting a plurality of kitchen cabinet shelves so that the shelves may pivot about a horizontal axis outwardly and downwardly toward the user to an access position for gaining access to the shelves. The shelves are returned to the storage position by pivoting the shelves back up into the storage position. A pivotable and foldable door having upper and lower panels is pivotably supported from the ceiling. The door is actuated by means of mechanical linkages interconnecting the shelving and the door. As the shelving is pivoted from the storage position into the access position, the door, which covers the front side of the shelving, is pivoted upwardly and away from the shelving to permit access thereto. The lower section of the door includes a linkage for folding the lower panel up toward the underside of the upper panel.
Abstract: A recipe card storage device having a drawer and drawer housing. The drawer is used for storing recipe cards. The drawer housing is mounted to a kitchen cabinet or table. The drawer has a display means which includes a drawer pull with an elongated groove for receiving the bottom edge of the recipe card. The display means provides an easy reference to the recipe card during cooking or baking in a kitchen.
Abstract: The combination of a cutting board and a removable drawer, the drawer being adapted to have the dual capacity of functioning as storage means and/or dispensing means.
Abstract: A cabinet construction for a ceiling-mounted fan-coil unit of an air conditioning system, the cabinet construction comprising a first cabinet section attachable to the fan-coil unit for housing a first portion of the unit, and a second cabinet section attachable to the first cabinet section for housing a second portion of the fan-coil unit, the two cabinet sections being attached by means of a latch assembly which assures the safe and proper installation of the two cabinet sections on the fan-coil unit.
Abstract: A compact refrigerator cabinet has a top storage container removably retained on its upper wall by means of a U-shaped top trim frame which extends along the front and side edges of the cabinet providing opposed trackways which normally retain a top panel. Flange means are provided on the underside of the container base which are slidably received in the trackways to provide a composite structure. The container has a generally half-round configuration including a concavo-convex top wall extending through a predetermined obtuse angle to define a front access opening. The base wall has a transverse shoulder formed by a notched portion extending inwardly from its front edge and a closure member pivotally supported adjacent the shoulder whereby the closure may be pivoted downwardly from an upstanding overcenter position closing the access opening to a horizontal position substantially flush with the cabinet base wall.
