Flat screen television sets and video monitors presently come in two different forms, namely those with a plasma screens on the one hand, and those with LCD screens on the other. In modem home design, in any living room in which a television or video monitor is positioned, the seating is generally angled, so that people can readily view the screen of such. Such an arrangement causes difficulties in that a television set or video monitor is a focus of the room, even when not in use. Other problems exist in that the flat-screen display is not generally considered as an aesthetically pleasing design. Furthermore, having an expensive or moderately expensive item of electrical equipment on permanent display within a room can pose a security risk.

    Abstract: The hinge assembly includes a housing and a monitor bezel for supporting a video monitor. The bezel is pivotally mounted on the housing about a pivot axis. A friction member is attached to one of the housing and the bezel and positioned and in sliding contact with a contact surface of the other of the housing and the bezel. The friction member is radially spaced apart from the pivot axis. A bias member biases the friction member against the contact surface. The pivoting of the bezel about the pivot axis causes the friction member to slide along the contact surface.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to the monitor having ribs for fixing a CRT comprising a CRT, a shield cover which is assembled enclosing said CRT from behind and a monitor case composed of at least two covers which enclose said CRT and said shield cover, and are joined one another by joining members, wherein the ribs for fixing the CRT are formed protruding from the inner surface of said monitor case in accordance with the shape and contours of the outer periphery of the CRT so that the CRT is fitted into the ribs and secured by joining force between said covers which are joined by said joining members. Since the CRT is fixed by the binding force between the covers comprising the monitor case and by said fixing ribs for the CRT, fixing lugs at each edges of the CRT are not necessary. Accordingly, there arises a merit that the size of the monitor can be reduced close to the actual screen size.
