Abstract: A voltage detection circuit includes a voltage obtaining circuit for transforming an AC signal into a voltage signal, an over-voltage detection circuit connected to the voltage obtaining circuit, and an under-voltage detection circuit connected to the voltage obtaining circuit. The over-voltage detection circuit is for determining whether the AC signal is over-voltage, and generating an over-voltage signal if the voltage signal is over-voltage. The over-voltage detection circuit includes a first transistor. The first transistor includes a first control electrode electrically connected to the voltage obtaining circuit, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The under-voltage detection circuit is for determining whether the AC signal is under-voltage, and generating an under-voltage signal if the voltage signal is under-voltage. The under-voltage detection circuit includes a second transistor.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of programming a preset intensity of a dimmer switch from a radio-frequency (RF) remote control. A user is able to adjust the intensity of the lighting load to a new intensity and subsequently press and hold a preset button on the remote control to program the new intensity as the preset intensity. The remote control transmits a wireless transmission to the dimmer switch, which immediately responds to the actuation of the preset button by controlling the intensity of the lighting load to an initial preset intensity. The dimmer switch then blinks a light-emitting diode representative of the new intensity to provide feedback that the dimmer switch is in the process of programming the preset intensity to the new intensity. Eventually, the dimmer switch stores the new intensity as the preset intensity and stops blinking the light-emitting diode.

Abstract: A load control system (e.g., a dimmer switch) operates in a normal mode of operation and an energy-saver mode and displays a visual indication when the system is operating in the energy-saver mode. The system comprises a controllably conductive device adapted to be coupled in series between a power source and a lighting load, a control circuit operatively coupled to the controllably conductive device for adjusting the intensity of the lighting load, and a visual indicator for providing the visual indication that the system is in the energy-saver mode of operation. The control circuit controls the intensity of the lighting load between a minimum intensity and a first maximum intensity when the system is in the normal mode of operation, and between the minimum intensity and a second maximum intensity less than the first maximum intensity when the system is in the energy-saver mode.

Abstract: One or more example diagnostics may be implemented as part of an intelligent luminaire manager or other radio frequency (RF) device that is in communication with an equipment or fixture such as a luminaire. Example diagnostics can determine a status such as a fixture malfunction, a cycling condition, a miswiring configuration, or another condition. The determined status can be wirelessly transmitted from the intelligent luminaire manager or other radio frequency device to a network server via a network. The network may be a network of intelligent luminaire managers and/or RF devices.

Abstract: A method of operating an electrical appliance includes coupling a solar collector to the electrical appliance such that the solar collector may provide electrical power to the appliance. A global positioning system receiver is used to determine a location of the solar collector. A level of power that may be sourced by the solar collector is calculated wherein the calculation is dependent upon the location of the solar collector as determined by the global positioning system receiver. The appliance is configured to draw a level of power corresponding to the calculated level of power that may be sourced by the solar collector.

Abstract: A chopper circuit generates a voltage to be supplied to a primary side of a transformer, and an inverter circuit supplies an output voltage of the chopper circuit to the primary side of the transformer in a positive phase or a negative phase. Thereby, an electric-discharge lamp connected to a secondary side of the transformer is lighted. A controlling section detects a lamp current, and thereby determines a type of the electric-discharge lamp. The controlling section decides the control value optimal for the chopper circuit and the inverter circuit on the basis of the determination result. The controlling section controls the chopper circuit and the inverter circuit with the decided control value. Thereby, the lighting device drives the electric-discharge lamp in an optimal state. For instance, the lighting device always makes the electric-discharge lamp lighting in a 100% light-modulated state regardless of its type.
