  • Patent number: 8552762
Abstract: A wire-OR matching circuit with low power consumption can be enabled by inputting an input-enabling signal representing “enabled.” The wire-OR matching circuit generates an output-enabling signal according to a control signal and a periodic pulse signal. When the periodic pulse signal represents “turn on”, if the input-enabling signal represents “enabled” and the control signal represents “not disabled”, the output-enabling signal represents “enabled;” if the input-enabling signal represents “enabled” and the control signal represents “disabled”, the output-enabling signal represents “not enabled.” The wire- or matching circuit can promptly break the connection between the high voltage source and the low voltage source by controlling the pulse width of the periodic pulse signal. In this way, large current is avoided, saving power consumption.

Abstract: Disclosed is a high-swing voltage-mode transmitter or line driver. The transmitter can operate over a wide range of supply voltages. Increasing the available output swing merely involves increasing the supply voltage; the circuit adapts to maintain the desired output impedance. This allows for a tradeoff between output amplitude and power consumption. Another advantage of the proposed architecture is that it compensates for process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) and mismatch variations so as to keep rise and fall times matched. This feature reduces common-mode noise and hence EMI in systems in which the transmitter is used.

  • Patent number: 8339157
Abstract: Input/Output (I/O) pin circuits, devices, methods and systems are implemented in various fashions. According to one such method, a valid signal level is provided for a pin of an integrated circuit (IC) die. Responsive to a reset signal, a first mode (304) is entered where one of a pull-up circuit or pull-down circuit is enabled (308, 310) to set the pin to the valid signal level. A change in signal level of the pin that is a deviation from the valid signal level is detected (312). Responsive to detecting the change, a second mode (314) is entered where the one of a pull-up circuit or pull-down circuit is disabled (316).

Abstract: An output buffer includes inverters, a delay circuit for delaying an input signal, buffers and switches. The output buffer transmits a logic signal to a transmission path and, in accordance with an amount of signal attenuation in the transmission path, creates a waveform including four or more kinds of signal voltages. The buffers are redundantly connected in parallel, and the number of buffers concurrently turn ON is controlled by respective switches provided in series with output resistors of the buffers. By selecting the buffers of switches which are turned ON, the preemphasis amount and a number of preemphasis taps are adjusted through a selector logic selection signal so that the preemphasis amount is made variable and the ON resistance of the buffers is made constant.

Abstract: Differential current driving type transmitter and receiver, and an interface system having the transmitter and receiver. The transmitter includes a current source, a current direction selecting block, and a balancing switch block. The current source sources currents to a pair of transmission lines or sinks currents flowing through the pair of transmission lines. The current direction selecting block transfers a current flowing from the current source to one transmission line of the pair of transmission lines and a current flowing through the other transmission line of the pair of transmission lines to the current source. The balancing switch block initializes the pair of transmission lines to a balanced state.
