  • Patent number: 10035257
Abstract: An apparatus for marking pipes at a plurality of cutting angles comprises a marking plate of adjustable length. The marking plate comprises a plurality of apertures and a plurality indicators. Each aperture is of a different size and configured to receive a pipe of a certain diameter through the marking plate. Each aperture is defined by a first half-circle side and a second half-circle side and the distance between the first half-circle side and the second half-circle side of each aperture varies according to the adjusted length of the marking plate. Also, the distance between the first half-circle side and the second half-circle side of each aperture corresponds to an angle of a pipe received through the marking plate. Indicators specify a diameter of a pipe received through the adjustable marking plate and the angle of the pipe with respect to the adjustable marking plate.

  • Patent number: 9365984
Abstract: An apparatus and method for using a single radial TWS product for a variety of applications is disclosed. Radial TWS products are used for intersections and the like. Often, different applications require radial TWS products of varying dimensions. The present invention includes a radial TWS product, having domes on its upper surface, which are ADAAG compliant. Markings are placed on the bottom surface, which indicate the appropriate places where the TWS product can be cut to achieve a variety of effective radii. These markings are positioned such that, after being cut, the resulting radial TWS product continues to meet the ADAAG required center-to-center spacing between domes of adjacent cut TWS products. In some embodiments, anchor members are used in conjunction with the TWS product to allow simple replacement.

  • Patent number: 8939918
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a calibration and measurement system designed primarily for use in the rapid evaluation and characterization of open or visible wounds in patients. The invention in a preferred embodiment comprises a set of colored concentric rings, typically constructed of paper or synthetic paper. The practitioner removes only as many rings, from the center outward, until the entire wound is visible within the open aperture at the center of the remaining rings. The area dimensions of the wound are then read out from the size of the inner remaining ring. Photography optionally records the wound appearance and size. A related system is developed for linear dimensioning of wounds. This embodiment is also designed to standardize the color scheme for accurate photography wound description. The color scheme is also applicable to a linear device to accurately describe wound size. Embodiments of the invention are also useful in forensic and accident investigations.

Abstract: A template designed to prepare various fabrics for the attachment of a decorative crocheted edge. The transparent triangular shaped template contains holes at equally spaced intervals with uniform distance from the edge of the template. The corner of the template has been designed with a radial edge for use as a pattern to cut fabric. This is done with a rotary cutter. An awl is inserted into each hole of the template piercing the fabric leaving it with exposed holes to affix the decorative crocheted edge. A marking instrument can be inserted into the holes to mark a consistent layout on the fabric for future piercing. Further, the template can be used for squaring and trimming the fabric prior to the piercing process.

Abstract: A template kit which consists of several different templates that can be used to mark or scribe openings for the installation of electrical boxes, box covers, and light fixtures in walls, cabinets, partitions, ceiling tiles, or any other flat surface. A generic version of a template in this kit is template 10. Each template in this kit will be made of a flat, transparent, and lightweight material 14 preferably plastic or Plexiglas. The thickness 12 of each template is approximately 3/32?. Each template will have either a “cross hair” or “dot” 16 marked on it to aid in aligning the template on a flat surface. The opening for the electrical junction box or box cover is marked on a surface around the periphery of the template. The periphery of each template in this kit are manufactured to a specific dimension to best match it to one of the many different shapes of electrical boxes, box covers, and light fixtures.

Abstract: A mail measurement apparatus in the form of a generally rectangular prism having four sides and front and back surfaces. At least one of the sides includes an indentation with a specific depth and a specific breadth. When the side is placed against a flat surface, the indentation creates a gap between the apparatus and the surface. The depth of the gap corresponds to a maximum allowed thickness for a class of mail, while the breadth of the gap corresponds with either the maximum allowed width of length associated with the same class of mail. The other sides of the apparatus may include additional indentations of varying sizes which may correspond to other predetermined maximum dimensions allowed by a postal carrier for the same or other classes of mail.

Abstract: A measuring gauge constructed of a transparent “L” shaped body having an elongated first arm and a second shorter arm disposed at 90 degrees to the first arm and defining a notch therein which forms a triangle with the first leg of the triangle angularly disposed with respect to the outer edge of the second arm. A plurality of indicia are carried by the two legs of the gauge. The indicia each include a center band sandwiched between outer bands with the inner and outer bands being of contrasting colors. The side edges of the gauge are inserted between the flaps and back panels of the envelope into engagement with a gum line and a depth of penetration is observed by determining the intersection of an edge of the envelope with the indicium along a side edge of the gauge thereby determining whether or not the envelope is in or out of specification.

Abstract: The roofing tile cutting template (20) is a guide for cutting roof tiles (38) near a valley intersection of two roof sections. The template is for use with tiles having a contoured surface. The template shares the contour of a particular type tile so that the template conforms to the surface of the tile when laid on the tile. The template includes one or more slots (22a, 22b, 22c, 22d, 22e) cut through the surface of the template to provide guides for ruling a cutting line on the tile. The template is positioned on a tile so that the slot corresponding to the geometry of the particular roof intersection intersects a mark placed on the tile indicating one dimension of the final cut tile. The lot is then used to rule an accurate cutting line on the tile.

Abstract: A non-structural shear wall nailing template bears a pattern of shear wall nailing pattern markings. The template is made of an inexpensive sheeting material that will not interfere with the further construction of the building if the template remains in-situ after construction of the shear wall. In one example, the template is a strip. The strip bears lettering that indicates the type of nailing pattern to which the nailing pattern markings conform. After fixing the template to one or more sheathing panels such that the template is aligned in a predefined way with respect to framing members behind the panel(s), nails are driven at the locations of the markings on the template. By driving a nail at the location of each template marking, the shear wall is constructed with proper nail spacing. A set of templates is provided to facilitate nailing in different shear wall nailing patterns.

Abstract: The marking sheet for cutting drywall provides an adhesive sheet having a marking layer formed of a transferable medium for transferring an image of an opening to the rear surface of a sheet of drywall. The user may then use the transferred image as a template for cutting an opening through the sheet of drywall. The marking sheet is dimensioned and configured to correspond to the opening, and is adhered to a building frame element defining the opening. The drywall is positioned against the marking sheet to form the image. The drywall is then removed from the marking sheet, and the user cuts the opening in the drywall. The marking sheet may be used to form openings in drywall for electrical boxes, for HVAC ducts, for plumbing pipes, for electrical conduit, or for window or door openings by marking the border of the window or door openings.
