The basket may be manually compressed alone these axes and then allowed to return to its normal shape when released. Thus, it has a non-compressed, relaxed state wherein it has maximum exterior dimensions and can stand-alone and serve the normal functions of a basket. The basket also has a compressed condition wherein at least certain of the dimensions of the basket are less than said maximum dimensions so that it can be fitted into a dryer, allowed to expand, and serve as a dryer liner. Wet clothes and other items can then be placed in the basket through the dryer opening in the normal manner.

In this manner an apparatus for drying bulk materials is created which is compact and therefore flexible in its application. Through optimization of the rate of flow of the drying air this apparatus is also economical in its consumption of compressed air.

The ferris wheel includes three pairs of rotatably mounted radially extending arms, a support plate pivotally mounted on the distal ends of the arms, adapted to hold a part which is loaded and sprayed with a waterbased clearcoat at a first position, indexed to a position directly below the blower and heater for approximately one minute to be impinged by warm air, then indexed to a third position to continue drying, before returning to the first position to be replaced by another part. The heater is a plurality of ceramic disc heater units in one embodiment and an electric duct heater in an alternate embodiment.

The radial distance between the circumferential wall of the casing and the central axis of the rotor gradually increases as the circumferential wall extends all around the rotor in its circumferential direction from a position adjacent to an air exhaust port to the air exhaust port, thereby making an air conduit formed around the rotor gradually wider. The bottom wall of the casing gradually slopes down towards the air exhaust port. Owing to the above construction, the resistance to an air stream through the casing has been reduced, thereby preventing air from flowing back into the rotor after striking the circumferential wall of the casing and thus preventing stains and water on the circumferential wall of the casing from flowing back and sticking on wafers or the like.

The process includes a soaking of the product in a liquid solution at selected temperatures, agitation of the solution, draining of the liquids and maintenance of predetermined temperature in a closed environment.
