  • Patent number: 6581302
Abstract: In known rack dryers, the drying effect is weaker in the outer area on the side of the air intake into the pipe chambers than in the other areas. Said weaker drying effect is caused by turbulence in this area, which leads to a drop in the static pressure. The aim of the invention is to provide a dryer which ensures even drying of the goods across the entire width, even in the problem areas. The rack dryer is equipped with conductive bodies (20, 26) which are located on the partition wall (5) and which streamline the current in the area of the air intake into the pipe chambers in such a way, that a predominantly even static pressure prevails throughout the entire pipe chamber. Abstract: A conveyor oven is capable of heating precisely and uniformly an article to be baked as the article is conveyed through the oven at a designated speed. Precise and uniform heating is promoted by 1) a combination supply/return duct assembly positioned above the conveyor and configured to promote uniform airflow towards the upper surface of the conveyor, and 2) discharge orifices configured to further promote uniform airflow from the supply ducts without generating whistling or other unpleasant noises. The arrangement of this supply/return duct assembly, incorporating both supply and return ducts in the same plane, also promotes a low profile oven--an important consideration in applications in which minimizing space is a priority. Abstract: The object of a device for transporting magazines for holding wafer-shaped objects is to ensure an exchange of gases within a SMIF box to the required extent at low cost and in an effective manner with respect to time in conformity to the working regimen associated with an SMIF system. A gas feed duct proceeding from closable ducts incorporated in the wall opens into gas distributing means. A gas discharge duct communicates with a gas outlet adjacent to the gas distribution means opposite the magazine. The device is preferably used in the fabrication of semiconductor chips.

  • Patent number: 5553394
Abstract: A radial jet nozzle for use in cooling a subject body. The radial jet nozzle includes a duct communicating with a plenum and a tapered flow diverter body positioned within the duct for comtrollably diverting the flow of a heat transfer medium through the duct. Heat transfer medium flowing through the duct is controllably, radially directed away from a discharge port of the duct. Flow from the discharge port of the radial jet nozzle creates a negative pressure in an area between a head of the diverter body and target surface of the subject body. The negative pressure increases the heat transfer rate which also increases the mass flow rate without damage to the target surface thereby enhancing the convective heat transfer characteristics of the heat transfer medium.

Abstract: A dryer has an internal drying chamber for accommodating articles that are subjected to heated circulating air to remove moisture from the articles. An air mixing chamber contains a first fan for moving air through a heater into the drying chamber. A second fan draws air out of the drying and mixing chambers and discharges air back into the mixing chamber through a filter into the external environment. The heated air in the drying chamber is mixed with fresh air and recirculated through the drying chamber to minimize heat losses and increase drying effectiveness. Ultraviolet lamps within the drying chamber destroy contaminants in the air and articles within the chamber. A boot dryer, located in the drying chamber, has fans that move air through tubes used to support boots, shoes, skates and socks. Ultraviolet light in the boot chamber destroys contaminants in the air in the boot chamber. One modification of the dryer has a bench to permit the dryer to be used as a dry sauna.

Abstract: In the system for analyzing aqueous samples, the aqueous sample is deposited upon a sheet of filter paper which is held in a filter holder by clamping the peripheral edges of the filter paper between male and female threaded members of the filter holder. The filter paper with the sample is dried by a heated air stream directed perpendicularly toward the paper so that it flows around and through the paper. After the sample has been dried, it is analyzed by near infrared spectral analysis to measure the constituents of the dried sample.

Abstract: Moist sewage sludge is dried in a sludge dryer having several zones. The initial moisture content of the sewage sludge may range up to 80% by weight, while the dried bulk material shall have a remainder moisture content of about 5% by weight. The drying gas temperature is maintained at a level up to 50.degree. C. to avoid activating additives that may be present in the sludge in the form of harmful substances to avoid the entry of these substances into the atmosphere. Furthere, the escape of processing air that has a noxious odor is avoided by passing the air through a deodorizer. The drying gas itself is reconditioned by reducing its moisture in a separate gas drying circuit from which the dried gas is again returned as a drying gas into the sludge dryer. A gas drying agent, such as a hygroscopic material is used in the gas dryer and the gas drying agent itself is regenerated by withdrawing moisture therefrom in a regenerating circuit.

  • Patent number: 5423248
Abstract: A method and apparatus for heating a product which includes a plurality of tapered ducts in a cabinet above and below a conveyor to form streams which are directed toward the product. Spent air is drawn through return ducts which have intake openings centered between entrance and exit openings in the cabinet and centered between lateral edges of a conveyor and between the tapered ducts to provide a balanced flow of spent air in the cabinet to the return opening. Temperature controlled gas is delivered at an angle through an array of openings adjacent opposite edges of an opening through which a conveyor extends to cause most of the heated air to be drawn to the return duct opening and to maintain internal pressure in the cabinet to prevent ingress and egress of air through the opening.

  • Patent number: 4665630
Abstract: A warm-air hand drying installation has a floor-mounted pedestal with several drying apparatus around its periphery. A single fan supplies air to each apparatus via a central duct when any one of the apparatus is switched on. Each apparatus has a flap valve and a heater. The valve covers either the outlet of the apparatus or a side opening into the pedestal. When any one of the apparatus is switched on, the heater is energized and its valve opens to allow air flow to its outlet and onto the hands of the user. The heaters of other apparatus are not energized and their valves remain positioned such that air flow to the apparatus is directed internally between the pedestal casing and the duct, to the fan inlet. In this way, air flow can be maintained constant regardless of the number of apparatus in use. The fan remains on for a time longer than the heater.
