  • Patent number: 9333900
Abstract: A display apparatus generates a high visibility optical signal, such as an ICON, the ICON comprising a symbol, shape, or other image-like representation. The ICON becomes visible at an observation point during an illumination ON-state. The ICON may be formed as a portion of display medium, for example as a machined portion of a mirror capable of forming images of a scene by reflection in normal operation. The visibility of the ICON in the illumination OFF-state from an observation point is sufficiently low such that the normal operation of the display medium is maintained. The display apparatus may be used in a blind spot warning system for a vehicle. Visible wavelength LEDs, RGB LEDs and/or diode lasers may be utilized as an illumination source.

  • Patent number: 8937558
Abstract: A technology that does not require complicated operation to select a display mode is provided. In an image display system, a back mode stores a display mode that has been recently set as a current mode. When the display mode becomes the back mode next time, the display mode that has been recently set as a current mode is set as a current mode immediately after the display mode becomes the back mode. Accordingly, the driver does not need to perform the complicated operation to select a desired display mode each time the vehicle is reversed.

  • Patent number: 8928225
Abstract: Provided is a display device in which design properties have been improved by eliminating the flickering when the display level changes. A microcomputer (5) causes light emission of first LEDs (23 and 24) which are the first and second ones counting from the right end among the emitting first LEDs (21 to 24), with decreasing brightness towards the right end. Furthermore, the microcomputer (5) causes light emission of second LEDs from a second LED (77) which is disposed at the right end of the second LEDs (71 to 77), to a second LED (73) which is disposed at a position overlapped with the first LEDs (23 and 24) that emit light with decreasing brightness towards the right end, and also causes light emission of second LEDs (73 and 74), which are the first and second ones counting from the left end among the emitting second LEDs (73 to 77), with decreasing brightness towards the left end.
