Abstract: An Error signal handling comprises a circuitry configured to receive an error signal from an external device indicating an error condition in the external device. The circuitry is further configured to receive a recovery signal indicating a mitigation of the error condition in the external device or indicating that a mitigation of the error condition in the external device is possible. Furthermore, the circuitry is further configured to output an error condition signal based on the error signal in response to a reception of the error signal if within a given delay time from the reception of the error signal, the circuitry does not receive the recovery signal and otherwise to omit outputting the error condition signal.

Abstract: Provided are methods and apparatus for improving motion sensing. In an example, provided is a method of mitigating an error in a motion sensor signal in a mobile device. A user input signal, based on a user input to the mobile device, is received. The user input can be a keystroke, and the user input signal can be a signal resulting from the keystroke. The user input signal triggers performing a function on a motion sensor signal for a period of time. The motion sensor signal can be an output from an accelerometer and/or a gyroscope. The period of time can be based on the duration of the user input signal, and can be in a range between substantially 100 milliseconds to substantially 700 milliseconds.
Abstract: A vehicle having a battery package as a power source includes a memory device for storing authentication information of battery modules in the battery package. A battery controller in the vehicle has an authentication unit. The authentication unit determines whether the battery module is a genuine product or not. When the battery module is not a genuine product, a control unit controls a communication unit to send information indicative that the battery module is not a genuine product. The information sent from the communication unit is recorded in a server of a public organization, such as an administrative organization or the like. The information recorded in the server of the administrative organization is utilized by the administrative organization or by a vehicle manufacturer, for an action that advises the user to use the genuine battery.

Abstract: A method and system for configuring initiating devices in a fire alarm system is provided. Groupings of the initiating devices in the fire alarm system are determined entirely automatically (or partially automatically). For example, the fire alarm control panel may communicate with the initiating devices to receive grouping information from the initiating device (which may be input at the initiating device), and determine the grouping based on the communication. As another example, the fire alarm control panel may communicate with the initiating devices in order to determine some aspect of the fire alarm system (such as the wiring), and automatically determine the grouping based on the communication. Moreover, labels for the initiating devices in the fire alarm system may be generated entirely automatically (or partially automatically). Further, reporting of the alarm events by the fire alarm control panel may be based on grouping.
Abstract: A motorman's cab display system includes a motorman's cab display apparatus that can automatically adjust display luminance of a display device without using an illuminance sensor. Abstract: Methods and mobile devices for performing operations responsive to user actions are disclosed. The method includes prompting a user of a mobile device to make a particular action that is detectable by the mobile device, and prompting the user to select a particular operation that the user desires to have effectuated when the particular action is subsequently carried out. In addition, an indicator of the particular action is stored on the mobile device in connection with an indicator of the particular operation to associate the particular action with the particular operation. And after registration, when the particular action is sensed with the mobile device, the particular operation is effectuated.
Abstract: An apparatus defines a protection envelope in an aircraft, including a processor and at least one sensor, each sensor being coupled with the processor, the processor executing at least one neural network based algorithm. The at least one sensor monitors flight parameters of the aircraft thereby generating monitored flight parameters. The processor divides the performance envelope of the aircraft into predefined flight regimes, wherein for each predefined flight regime, the processor defines and stores a suitable protection envelope. The processor determines an estimated flight regime of the aircraft using the neural network based algorithm based on the monitored flight parameters. The processor selects a respective suitable protection envelope for the aircraft based on the estimated flight regime.

Abstract: A personal multimedia communication system and network for emergency services personnel includes a plurality of personal communication systems linked together and to a base station in a network. Each personal communication system includes a PDA device mounted on a PASS control console, a video camera mounted on the PDA device, a GPS unit, a microphone, and other electronic devices. The various electronic devices are all communicatively connected to the PDA device. Data from the various devices may be collected in the PDA device and wirelessly transmitted to any other node or device in the network, including other personal communication devices. Each personal communication device may serve as a repeater, thus providing a wireless communications link between a device located out of range of the base station.

Abstract: A system and method for waking up a vehicle controller during a hydrogen gas refueling process for a high pressure hydrogen storage tank on a fuel cell vehicle. The system includes a first temperature switch mounted to the high pressure tank and enclosed within an insulation housing for monitoring the temperature within the tank and a second temperature switch for monitoring the temperature of the hydrogen gas at the refuel receptacle, where the second temperature switch is also enclosed within an insulation housing. If the temperature within the tank increases above a predetermined temperature, the first switch will close, and if the temperature at the refueling receptacle falls below a predetermined temperature, then the second switch will close, which causes a wake up signal to be provided to the controller to allow the controller to monitor the temperature of the tank.

A door sensing unit comprises a first transceiver interconnected with the system control panel over a network. The first transceiver has an detection field proximate to the door. A disarm device comprises a second transceiver that automatically transmits a disarm device packet. The first transceiver receives the disarm device packet when the second transceiver is within the detection field. The first transceiver sends a disarm message to the system control panel over the network to disarm the security system based on at least the disarm device packet.

In one embodiment, the sensor unit adjusts one or more of the thresholds based on ambient temperature.
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a system of fans in a facility from a central system controller are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the system of fans can be configured to shut down automatically during an emergency condition or event. For example, a fan system controller can be connected to the system of fans and provide a signal to each of the fans. While each of the fans receives the signal, power is connected to a motor on each of the fans. Upon detection of an emergency condition, the fan system controller disconnects the signal to the fans, thereby automatically simultaneously shutting down the entire system of fans.

Abstract: A control for a water heater is provided that comprises a pressure switch for sensing a predetermined level of airflow sufficient for maintaining proper burner operation, and a temperature sensing means for sensing the temperature of the water in the tank. The control further comprises a processor for controlling the operation of the burner to maintain the water temperature above a predetermined value. When the processor receives a signal from the pressure switch or temperature switch indicating a malfunction, the processor shuts down the burner and subsequently attempts to restart the burner. The processor will lock-out further burner operation after a predetermined number of consecutive shut downs occurs, and will communicate any malfunction information to a remote display device.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of controlling a hazard alert system with a control device and multiple release mechanisms connected to the control device, wherein the release mechanisms are each connected to at least one alarm device. The initialisation step consists of identification data being assigned to the release mechanisms, and then a control signal is transmitted by the control device to activate or deactivate the alarm devices to all the release mechanisms, wherein the control signal transmits identification data from one or more release mechanisms, and the identification data transmitted by the control device is compared, by the release mechanisms, to the identification data assigned to them. If the release mechanisms determine that the identification data compared with one another matches, they send a control signal to activate or deactivate the alarm devices connected with them, so that the alarm devices are activated or deactivated synchronously.
Abstract: The invention relates to a security system with power saving feature and device comprises an electric magnet and a corresponding iron plate. The electric magnet is connected to a G-sensor module and the iron plate has a pressing face to contact with the G-sensor module. When the door is opened, the electric magnet does not supply power; when the door is closed, the electric magnet with electromagnetic attraction attracts the iron plate and the pressing face presses the G-sensor module. That is, the electromagnetic lock usually stays in a low-energy attraction state; however, when the G-sensor module is triggered, the electromagnetic lock returns to a normal lock state for achieving power saving effect and control of the external force detection improvement.

Abstract: An alarm system includes two subsystems: a security subsystem that performs critical alarm condition monitoring and reporting; and an auxiliary subsystem that allows execution of other non-critical software components. The security subsystem may monitor the performance of the auxiliary subsystem, and maintain the performance by resetting and/or otherwise controlling the execution of software and use of hardware at the auxiliary subsystem, providing increased overall reliability of the security system, without compromising its ability to monitor security conditions at an associated premises.
