  • Patent number: 11057733
Abstract: A method of determining the location of a user in an area. A user requests a transmitting device from a transmitter providing device. The transmitter providing device associates an identification code with the user, and the transmitting device transmits that identification code. One or more of receiving devices receive the identification code transmitted by the transmitting device, and send details of the received identification code to the user location determining device. The user location determining device then determines the location of the user, using the received details from the one or more receiving devices.

Abstract: Offender location tracking devices have evolved to a point where they are wearable computers. Modern smartwatches are also wearable computers and can be used as offender tracking devices; however, they have the limitation of not being able to detect if they are being tampered with or are removed. A novel security band of the present invention can be used in conjunction with a commercially available smartwatch. The security band of the present invention is able to detect if it is cut or removed and is able to wirelessly notify a smartwatch or optional smartphone. The notification is then relayed to a monitoring center or supervising authority using a cellular telephone network or other wireless communication method.

  • Patent number: 10925518
Abstract: The present invention relates to a light-weight, small and portable ambulatory sensor for measuring and monitoring a person's physical activity. Based on these measurements and computations, the invented system quantifies the subject's physical activity, quantifies the subject's gait, determines his or her risk of falling, and automatically detects falls. The invention combines the features of portability, high autonomy, and real-time computational capacity. High autonomy is achieved by using only accelerometers, which have low power consumption rates as compared with gyroscope-based systems. Accelerometer measurements, however, contain significant amounts of noise, which must be removed before further analysis. The invention therefore uses novel time-frequency filters to denoise the measurements, and in conjunction with biomechanical models of human movement, perform the requisite computations, which may also be done in real time.

  • Patent number: 10410499
Abstract: A system of identifying a person's identity in a monitored site, comprising communication interface(s) for communicating with motion sensor(s) each monitoring one of a plurality of monitored spaces of a monitored site, RF receiver(s), each having a reception coverage area overlapping with one of the monitored spaces and transmitter(s) for transmitting a request message, a program store storing a code and processor(s) for executing code to, receive from a detecting sensor a presence indication in a detecting space of the monitored spaces, instruct the transmitter(s) to transmit a request message in the monitored site following the indication reception and estimate an identity of a person by analyzing a unique identification signal captured by RF receiver(s) having reception coverage area that overlaps with the detecting space. The unique identification signal is transmitted by an identification device of an associated person in response to the request message reception.

  • Patent number: 10380873
Abstract: An interactive wireless life safety communications system is disclosed. A central coordination server is linked to a first network, over which there is a connection to at least one resident life safety device at a specific location or for specific resident. An alarm signal is generated by the resident life safety device upon detection of an alarm condition and transmitted to the central coordination server. A caregiver communications device is connected to the central coordination server over a second network, and is receptive to an alarm notification that is generated by the central coordination server in response to the alarm signal. The caregiver communications device is also receptive to a caregiver user input, from which an action status response is generated for transmission to the central coordination server.

  • Patent number: 10373448
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for detecting an occupancy of an equipment (12) by a person (14). A memory stores a status of the equipment as either occupied or unoccupied, and a predetermined acceleration limit value. An accelerometer unit communicates with the memory, and measures acceleration values of the equipment at discrete time intervals. The accelerometer unit compares each acceleration value to an acceleration limit value. If a consecutive number N of the acceleration values is greater than or equal to the acceleration limit value, the accelerometer unit generates a movement signal. A processor operates between an active mode when it receives the movement signal from the accelerometer unit, and an inactive mode. The processor in the active mode emits an occupied signal if the status of the equipment is unoccupied. A power source supplies electrical power to the accelerometer unit and to the processor.

  • Patent number: 10357185
Abstract: A person support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, or the like, includes an exit detection system that utilizes an occupant motion parameter to determine whether to issue an alert or not. The motion parameter may be based on the weight and motion of the occupant. Successive positions of the occupant are determined in order to calculate a velocity of the occupant. In some embodiments, the kinetic energy of the occupant is used to determine if an alert should be issued. Objects positioned on the person support apparatus may also be detected and tracked. Auto-zeroing of a built-in scale, as well as automatic recognition of the removal, movement, and/or addition of objects is also provided.
