  • Patent number: 11526209
Abstract: A method and system for rendering an augmented reality scene on a mobile computing device tracks a real-world scene and/or a viewpoint of a user with one or more event-based vision sensors and blends an augmented reality scene displayed on the mobile computing device based on the viewpoint of the user and a scene map of the real-world scene and on the tracking of the one or more event-based vision sensors. Event-based vision sensors offer many advantages, mainly by intrinsically compressing the data stream and thus reducing the amount of data that a processing unit needs to perform. Furthermore, the event-based vision sensor pixels continuously sense the visual changes in the scene and report them with a very low latency. This makes the event-based vision sensor an ideal sensor for always-on tasks such as visual tracking and smart sensor control or data enhancement of secondary sensing modalities.

An image simulator is to generate a simulated image based on the 3D model, the simulated image corresponding to the captured image. A discriminator is to apply a discriminative model to the simulated image to determine whether the simulated image is simulated.

Abstract: A light projection system, including a light source to provide an output beam of light, an angular light modulator (ALM) comprising a plurality of pixels, each pixel having an ON state and an OFF state, the ALM positioned to receive output beam on the plurality of pixels, and a processor coupled to the ALM. The processor is programmed to control a first set of the pixels to transition between the OFF state and the ON state while the beam is incident on the pixels. An amount of light is selectively directed in a direction by the first set. The processor is also programmed to control a second set of the plurality of pixels to remain in the OFF state while the beam is incident on the plurality of pixels. As a result, the ALM operates as a spatial light modulator and an angular light modulator of the beam of light.

Abstract: Disclosed are computer-readable devices, systems and methods for generating a model of a clothed body. The method includes generating a model of an unclothed human body, the model capturing a shape or a pose of the unclothed human body, determining two-dimensional contours associated with the model, and computing deformations by aligning a contour of a clothed human body with a contour of the unclothed human body. Based on the two-dimensional contours and the deformations, the method includes generating a first two-dimensional model of the unclothed human body, the first two-dimensional model factoring the deformations of the unclothed human body into one or more of a shape variation component, a viewpoint change, and a pose variation and learning an eigen-clothing model using principal component analysis applied to the deformations, wherein the eigen-clothing model classifies different types of clothing, to yield a second two-dimensional model of a clothed human body.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for estimating a 3D bounding box (3DBB) from a 2D bounding box (2DBB). Conventional techniques to estimate 3DBB from 2DBB rely upon classifying target vehicles within the 2DBB. When the target vehicle is misclassified, the projected bounding box from the estimated 3DBB is inaccurate. To address such issues, it is proposed to estimate the 3DBB without relying upon classifying the target vehicle.
