Abstract: Surveillance system endpoints communicate with each other to send and receive presence information. The surveillance endpoints may react to the received presence information. For example, if one surveillance camera stops functioning, one or more other cameras can react to the presence information, or lack thereof, sent from the malfunctioning camera. Thus, one or more of the other cameras can cover the area normally covered by the malfunctioning camera. Thus, the surveillance endpoints can automatically react to presence events in a network of surveillance endpoints.

  • Patent number: 8848976
Abstract: The present invention relates to a video tracker which allows automatic tracking of a selected area over video frames. Motion of the selected area is defined by a parametric motion model. In addition to simple displacement of the area it can also detect motions such as rotation, scaling and shear depending on the motion model. The invention realizes the tracking of the selected area by estimating the parameters of this motion model in the complex discrete wavelet domain. The invention can achieve the result in a non-iterative direct way. Estimation carried out in the complex discrete wavelet domain provides a robust tracking opportunity without being effected by noise and illumination changes in the video as opposed to the intensity-based methods. The invention can easily be adapted to many fields in addition to video tracking.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are related to low complexity systems and methods for nonlinear diffusion filtering of a motion-vector field. Local weights in the nonlinear diffusion filter may be data-adaptive, and, according to one aspect of the present invention, may be determined such that spatial coherency may not be enforced at object boundaries although the object boundaries have not been explicitly detected. Thus, the methods and systems of the present invention may smooth a motion-vector field without smoothing the motion-vector field across an object boundary. According to a second aspect of the present invention, motion vectors with a low confidence value may be suppressed, while motion vectors with a high confidence value may be propagated. According to another aspect of the present invention, motion estimation methods and systems may incorporate the methods and systems of the nonlinear diffusion filtering according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 8705799
Abstract: The path and/or position of an object is tracked using two or more cameras which run asynchronously so there is need to provide a common timing signal to each camera. Captured images are analyzed to detect a position of the object in the image. Equations of motion for the object are then solved based on the detected positions and a transformation which relates the detected positions to a desired coordinate system in which the path is to be described. The position of an object can also be determined from a position which meets a distance metric relative to lines of position from three or more images. The images can be enhanced to depict the path and/or position of the object as a graphical element. Further, statistics such as maximum object speed and distance traveled can be obtained. Applications include tracking the position of a game object at a sports event.

Abstract: When estimating distance to an object in an image using a single camera, data acquired by an onboard accelerometer is analyzed to determine camera speed as the user takes a video of the object of interest. The compression that results during video processing is used to derive motion vectors for the object of interest in the scene. The motion vectors have an opposite direction to the camera motion and a magnitude that is a function of the unknown object distance and a known magnification level. The object distance is calculated from the estimated velocity and motion vector magnitude.

Abstract: The present invention facilitates efficient and effective detection of pixel alteration. In one embodiment a pixel alteration analysis system includes a difference summing multiple engine component and a control component. The difference summing multiple engine component determines the sum of differences between pixel values in a plurality of pixels. The control component determines an indication of motion based upon said relationship of said pixels in said plurality of pixels. In one exemplary implementation, the difference in values corresponds to a relationship between values of pixels in a block of pixels at different frames. The number and configuration of pixels in a block partition can be flexibly changed.
