Transmission Path Testing Patents (Class 348/192)
  • Patent number: 10567036
Abstract: Echo cancellation to alleviate timing varying channels may be provided. First, a feedback signal corresponding to one of a plurality of downstream paths and a combination upstream signal comprising a combination of upstream signals from a plurality of upstream paths may be received. Next, a plurality of echo corrected signals may be created using the feedback signal, the combination upstream signal, and a plurality of echo cancelation coefficients that each respectively correspond to each one of the plurality of echo corrected signals and that are different from each other. Then a one of the plurality of echo cancelation coefficients that corresponds to a one of the plurality of echo corrected signals that provides a best echo cancelation performance as compared to other ones of the plurality of echo corrected signals may be selected to use.

Abstract: A method is provided for path optimization for a message campaign. A graphical user interface representation of the message campaign is displayed. Sets of input instructions are received. Each set of input instructions corresponds to a path in the message campaign. The sets of input instructions are executed, causing different electronic messages to be sent according to corresponding paths to different destination targets. Responses are monitored. A winning path is then determined based on a correlation of a criterion with a goal for the message campaign and also the responses or results of executing the plurality of sets of input instructions. The winning path from among the plurality of paths is then upweighted. Abstract: Devices and methods for determining image quality using full-reference and non-reference techniques. Full reference image quality may be determined prior to output of an image or video frame from an image sensor processor by temporarily retaining image data from the image sensor and comparing processed image data of the image to the retained, non-processed image data of the same image. Full reference image quality determination may be assisted by a heuristic-based fault indicator. Image quality may also be determined by a non-reference technique of matching the image to one of various scenarios that are associated with sets of heuristics and applying the heuristics of the particular scenario to the image. Instead of relying on a nominal frame rate, video timing quality may be determined by comparing the capture time interval between successive video frames to the presentation time interval of the same video frames.

  • Patent number: 9038119
Abstract: A handheld leakage detector for finding digital signal leaks in a HFC network, comprises a radio receiver, a leakage receiver, leakage sampler, a correlator, and a display. The radio receiver receives samples of the digital signal taken from the HFC network, called “reference samples.” The leakage receiver receives a leakage signal, which is a leaked version of the digital signal from the HFC network. The leakage sampler samples the leakage signal to form leakage samples. The correlator performs a cross-correlation of the reference samples and the leakage samples, to produce a correlation function. An optimizable value is determined from the correlation function. The value generally becomes more optimized as the detector approaches the leak. The leak is sought by iteratively changing the position of the detector until the value becomes substantially optimized or the leak is found.

Abstract: A method and system that assesses video quality of transmitted video packet signals suffering from packet loss and delay. This packet loss and delay can create freeze events, which are observed as a jerkiness while viewing the video. The system and method compares the frames in a video transmission to determine freeze events; extracts a set of features from the locations of the freeze events and decoded video frames; and maps the set of features into a video quality score using a neural network. The video quality score provides an assessment of the effects of irregular frame freezes due to packet loss or delay on the quality of the video.

  • Patent number: 9007467
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for operating an image-processing device in which an image signal on which a noise signal is superimposed is digitally transmitted between a transmitter and at least one receiver, and in which the image signal comprises a timed sequence of images, each containing its own image content and a noise pattern of the noise signal superimposed on the image content. At least certain areas of at least two successive images of the image signal are compared to each other after the transmission, and if a difference is found between the noise patterns contained in the images, it is concluded that the images have been transmitted successfully even if the image content of the images is identical. The invention also pertains to an image-processing device for the digital transmission of an image signal on which a noise signal is superimposed.
