Abstract: A computer system may train and use a machine-learning model to quantitatively analyze an image. In particular, the computer system may generate the machine-learning model based on a set of reference images that include content with instances of a quantitative feature attribute and one or more feedback metrics that specify locations of the instances of the quantitative feature attribute in the reference images and numerical values associated with the instances of the quantitative feature attribute. Then, after receiving the image from an electronic device, the computer system may analyze the image using the machine-learning model to perform measurements of one or more additional instances of the quantitative feature attribute in the image. Moreover, the computer system may provide a measurement result for the image, the measurement result including a second numerical value associated with the one or more additional instances of the quantitative feature attribute in the image.

  • Patent number: 10382669
Abstract: A portable electronic device with image capturing capabilities automatically or semi-automatically adjusts one or more image capturing parameters based on an input attribute of user engagement with a single-action haptic input mechanism. For example, the duration for which a single-action control button carried on a frame of the device is pressed automatically determines an image stabilization mode for on-board processing of captured image data. In one example, an above-threshold press duration automatically activates a less rigorous image stabilization mode, while button release before expiry of the threshold automatically activates a more rigorous photo stabilization mode.

  • Patent number: 10366091
Abstract: Method for loading and garbage collecting image files. An example system includes two memories, processors, and a garbage collector including an I/O and a garbage collector engine. The I/O receives a request to load an image file from the first memory into the second memory. The garbage collector engine retrieves metadata including an identifying signature associated with a logical subunit. The garbage collector retrieves a plurality of identifying signatures, each identifying signature associated with a respective logical subunit from image files stored on the second memory. The garbage collector determines that the first identifying signature matches a third identifying signature from the plurality of identifying signatures, where the third identifying signature is associated with a third logical subunit. The garbage collector makes a copy of the third logical subunit, and uses this copy in place of the first logical subunit when loading the first image file to the second memory.

  • Patent number: 10341603
Abstract: A method of tracking digital images includes inputting data identifying a subject of an image into a camera, acquiring an image with the camera, and storing the image and the inputted data, as metadata, in an image file when the image is acquired. The method can be implemented using a scanner, a digital camera, and a data processor. The scanner obtains the identifying data and transmits the data to the camera. The camera obtains digital images and embeds the data into digital image files encoding the digital images. The identifying data has a format different from any of the formats processable by the digital camera. The data processor converts the format of the identifying data to one of the plurality of formats processable by the digital camera loads the converted information into the digital camera as metadata.

Abstract: Presented here is technology to efficiently process camera images to generate artistic images and videos using an artificial intelligence module receiving inputs from multiple sensors. Multiple sensors can include a depth sensor, a conventional camera, and a motion tracker providing inputs to the artificial intelligence module. Based on the inputs, the artificial intelligence module can segment the received image and/or video into a foreground image and a background image to produce portrait imagery by blurring the background image and/or video. The artificial intelligence module can select the most aesthetically pleasing image from a video. In addition, the artificial intelligence module can adjust lighting in an image or video to create artistic lighting effects. All the processing can be done in real time due to efficient combination of artificial intelligence modules, traditional image processing techniques, and use of specialized hardware.
