Abstract: Certain aspects relate to systems and techniques for dynamically configuring frame skip for AWB calculations. For example, if RGB gains are deemed to be stable across a number of frames, the frame skip value used for AWB calculations can be increased. Changing RGB gains are indicators of image changes such as a changing scene and/or changing illuminant, which can indicate a need for updated AWB calculations, and accordingly the frame skip value can be set to zero or a low number of frames.

  • Patent number: 9667824
Abstract: A method and system to facilitate identifying and recording capture location of recorded video. A computing system determines multiple locations where a video camera has been substantially stationary over time, such as by tracking location of the video camera itself or by evaluating where supplemental device carried with the video camera has been substantially stationary over time. The computing system then outputs, for presentation to the videographer or another user, a location-selection prompt that specifies the multiple determined locations as candidate capture-locations for a video that was captured by the video camera. Further, the computing system receives, in response to the location-selection prompt, data that represents a user selection of one of the specified locations. The computing system then records the selected location as capture-location metadata for the video, such as capture-location data integrated with the video or in a database relationship with the video.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are exemplary embodiments for automatically capturing images in a mobile electronic device. One embodiment comprises sensing device motion and automatically triggering image capture when the device is stationary. Use of this approach reduces image blur and avoids the need for subsequent image alteration or compensation for camera motion. Images can simply be captured in-between motions by leveraging high-resolution sensors and computational assets available to the mobile device to accurately assess when to trigger the shutter. Images can then be saved in a memory within the device. Enhancements to the disclosed method of automatic image capture include pre-selecting a set of threshold values for image acceptance.

  • Patent number: 9357118
Abstract: When a user removes a camera phone from a pocket or other storage location and raises it in a pre-defined motion in front of his face, the pre-defined motion activates the camera. When the camera phone decelerates/stabilizes in the user's hand in the correct orientation to take a picture, autofocus occurs and the camera automatically records images/photographs. When the user presses the shutter release, a camera application opens on the camera phone display to show the current image and that image is recorded. The previous automatically recorded images also may be available for viewing by the user. If after removing the camera from the storage location, the user does something other than pressing the shutter release, the automatically recorded images will be automatically discarded. When a brief photographic opportunity occurs and the user has little time to react, the photographic moment still can be captured.
