Abstract: In general, a “Stereoscopic Video Converter” (SVC) provides various techniques for automatically converting arbitrary 2D video sequences into perceptually plausible stereoscopic or “3D” versions while optionally generating dense depth maps for every frame of the video sequence. In particular, the automated 2D-to-3D conversion process first automatically estimates scene depth for each frame of an input video sequence via a label transfer process that matches features extracted from those frames with features from a database of images and videos having known ground truth depths. The estimated depth distributions for all image frames of the input video sequence are then used by the SVC for automatically generating a “right view” of a corresponding stereoscopic image for each frame (assuming that each original input frame represents the “left view” of the stereoscopic image).

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an image input unit that inputs a two-dimensional image signal, a depth information output unit that inputs or generates depth information of image areas constituting the two-dimensional image signal, an image conversion unit that receives the image signal and the depth information from the image input unit and the depth information output unit, and generates and outputs a left eye image and a right eye image for realizing binocular stereoscopic vision, and an image output unit that outputs the left and right eye images. The image conversion unit extracts a spatial feature value of the input image signal, and performs an image conversion process including an emphasis process applying the feature value and the depth information with respect to the input image signal, thereby generating at least one of the left eye image and the right eye image.

Abstract: Video data is received in 2D or 3D format from different channels as a user scrolls through an electronic guide. The video data may be displayed in a portion of the on screen display along with graphic and text associated with the EPG data. The received video data may be converted to a suitable format to be displayed with Electronic Program Guide (EPG). The video data may be converted from a 3D to a 2D format to be displayed with the EPG data. The video data may be converted from a 2D format to a 3D format, while the EPG data displays in a 2D format. The video data may be converted from one 3D format to another 3D format for display with the EPG data. The selection of converting the received video data can be based on a display format of a previously viewed channel prior to requesting the EPG to be displayed.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a video processing apparatus configured to scale three-dimensional video data including an interleaved image of a first resolution, in which a left-eye image and a right-eye image are alternately disposed in every other scanning line, to a second resolution, includes a left/right-eye image extraction module, an image interpolation module, and a scaling module. The left/right-eye image extraction module extracts a left-eye interleaved image corresponding to scanning lines of the left-eye image and a right-eye interleaved image corresponding to scanning lines of the right-eye image. The image interpolation module generates an interpolated left-eye image and an interpolated right-eye image by interpolating pixels by using the left-eye interleaved image and the right-eye interleaved image. The scaling module generates a left-eye scaling image and a right-eye scaling image by scaling the interpolated left-eye image and the interpolated right-eye image to the second resolution.
