  • Patent number: 11940674
Abstract: A method of designing a fluid-filled contact lens (103) is described. The method involves generating a computational model that includes a fluid-filled lens (103) and the shape of a cornea causes deformation of an internal structure of the fluid-filled lens (103) to generate a deformed, fluid-filled lens (103) with altered optical properties. The method also includes modelling (5) the optical properties of the deformed, fluid-filled lens (103). The shape of the fluid-filled lens (103) is then adjusted (7) to reduce the effects of the deformation on the optical properties. This is referred to as an adjusted fluid-filled lens (103). A corresponding off-eye lens design is generated (110 based on the adjusted fluid-filled lens design.

Abstract: An adapter for coupling a laser treatment device to an object for treatment. The adapter has an input side, which may be fixed relative to the laser treatment device, by a locking mechanism and which may be fixed to the object, for alignment of the object relative to the laser treatment device. A scanned laser beam is introduced on the input side, from the laser treatment device, along a beam path to the object with a reference structure. The reference structure lies on the beam path of the adapter and may be optically detected by means of the laser beam scanned over the region.

  • Patent number: 10712564
Abstract: An eye-mounted device includes a contact lens and an embedded imaging system. The front aperture of the imaging system faces away from the user's eye so that the image sensor in the imaging system detects imagery of a user's external environment. The optics for the imaging system has a folded optical path, which is advantageous for fitting the imaging system into the limited space within the contact lens. In one design, the optics for the imaging system is based on a two mirror design, with a concave mirror followed by a convex mirror.

  • Patent number: 10659772
Abstract: An augmented reality (AR) system that enhances an AR participant's experience by providing a visual effect with added depth. The AR system displays previously achieved by an AR HMD are augmented with a second layer of accessible depth. This added depth is achieved by including, in the AR space/real world environment, external stereo screens upon which 3D stereo content is projected by one or more 3D projectors. The AR HMD is equipped with an external 3D screen viewing assembly so the AR HMD allows an AR participant wearing the AR HMD to view images on the external stereo screens in stereo. The external stereo screens can be used to produce 3D imagery that may differ in depth from the depth of the fixed focal length images displayed to the viewer by the AR HMD. The AR system enlarges the AR participant's simultaneous angular viewing range to 55 to 160 degrees.

  • Patent number: 10646282
Abstract: A variable geometry contact lens structure having a thickness t sufficient to carry an active payload is constructed using layers of materials with high oxygen transmissibility and low oxygen transmissibility. The low transmissibility layer provide mechanical support for the active payload, and the high transmissibility layers provide adequate oxygen transmission to the cornea of the user's eye. The ratio of the thicknesses of the two layers changes abruptly at the boundaries between the payload and non-payload regions of the structure. For example, at a boundary of the payload region, a ratio of thicknesses of the high transmissibility layer t1 to thickness of the low transmissibility layer t2, R=t1/t2, changes by at least 2:1 over a lateral distance of not more than t.

  • Patent number: 10595987
Abstract: A method and system of producing a digitally printed iris structure for an artificial eye by using suitable digital graphics software, the appearance of a dilating pupil/collarette is created within the combined center portion/inner ring area of a prosthetic eye—in that a pupil appears to dilate from a small diameter in bright light to a comparatively large diameter in dimmer or darker light. The process of creating such effect is a unique extension of the knowledge that certain colors and pigments in bright light are most apparent, and in dark light tend to appear grey to black.
