  • Patent number: 11388305
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a document placement unit, a document conveyance unit, a reading unit, a case, and a movable member. The document conveyance unit conveys a document, placed on the document placement unit, along a conveyance path. The case accommodates the reading unit and includes a transparent member which allows passing of light to receiving elements, and an opening. The movable member includes a cover portion and a connection portion and moves in an adjustment direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the case. The cover portion covers the case opening while being in contact with an outside of the case. The connection portion connects the reading unit and the cover portion. When the movable member moves in the adjustment direction, the reading unit moves within the case to change an angle of the reading unit with respect to a document conveyance direction.

  • Patent number: 10707924
Abstract: A distributed antenna system supporting MIMO service is disclosed. Some embodiments provide a distributed antenna system supporting MIMO communication, including first node, second node and one transmission line. The first node receives MIMO downlink signals of a plurality of MIMO services each including N (a natural number of 2 or more) MIMO downlink signals, and performs, for each MIMO service, frequency-conversion of N?1 MIMO downlink signals among the N MIMO downlink signals, to different frequency band from original frequency band, to generate N MIMO downlink signals without mutually overlapping frequency bands. The second node performs, for each MIMO service, frequency-conversion of the MIMO downlink signals having been frequency-converted by first node, in a complementary manner, to reconstruct the MIMO downlink signals of original frequency band. The single transmission line is used between the first node and second node for transmitting N downlink signals without mutually overlapping frequency bands.

Abstract: A facsimile transmission device implements silence suppression based on a state of a facsimile call and detected facsimile signals. A decision process implemented in the facsimile device can determine when silence suppression should be enabled. The facsimile device may be an IP media gateway connected between a PSTN and an IP network, or may be an IP endpoint. The determination of when to enable silence suppression can be based on the state of sending or receiving facsimile transmissions including facsimile operations and/or signaling. The decisions can be based on the type of facsimile transmission including G3 type or SG3 type facsimile transmissions. By enabling silence suppression during facsimile transmissions, significant reductions in bandwidth requirements can be achieved for the facsimile transmission while maintaining facsimile transmission quality.

The switching control unit causes the power control unit to perform a normal mode when the first communication interface obtains first communication-related information in the sleep mode.

Abstract: A communication apparatus which is capable of determining whether or not it is necessary to switch from IP FAX to analog FAX and resend an original, thus dispensing with an unnecessary resending process. When communication using a first connection unit, which connects to a network line, is unsuccessful, it is determined whether or not a device at a destination is a device connected to the network line via an analog line. When it is determined that the device at the destination is not a device connected to the network line via the analog line, communication with the device at the destination using a second connection unit, which connects to the analog line, is carried out.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus which makes it possible to provide restricted access thereto without requiring an information processing apparatus to have a special authentication function. The image forming apparatus receives authentication information input by a user using a user interface, and receives a connection request transmitted from the information processing apparatus. When receiving the connection request, the image forming apparatus determines whether or not the user has been authenticated based on the received authentication information. If the user has been authenticated, the image forming apparatus permits execution of processing from the information processing apparatus thereto, whereas if not, it refuses execution of processing from the information processing apparatus.
