  • Patent number: 8264730
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes n line buffer circuits and a delay adjustment section. In a case of a filter process, (i) image data corresponding to n lines stored in the n line buffer circuits and (ii) image data corresponding to one line supplied to the delay adjustment section are outputted to a spatial filter process section in synchronization with each other. In a case of a dilation process, (i) image data corresponding to m lines stored in m line buffer circuits of the n line buffer circuits and (ii) image data corresponding to one line supplied to the delay adjustment section are outputted to a dilation process section in synchronization with each other. This reduces the size of a circuit of an image processing device including a plurality of types of image process sections for carrying out image processes by using image data with different numbers of lines.

  • Patent number: 8243350
Abstract: In a color reading apparatus for successively reading respective red, green, and blue colors in each line while a document is continuously conveyed to a plurality of line sensor units arranged in a zigzag manner, the line sensor units are arranged with a distance equal to or shorter than a unit of line to prevent a color shift. When read data of the plurality of line sensor units in a conveying direction are to be combined, image data shifted by the number of lines corresponding to distances between the line sensor units in the conveying direction are set as first combination candidates. A color code and a line code are added to each of the data. Image data having the same color code and the same line code are combined. According to the image reading apparatus structured as described above, it is possible to obtain data capable of reproducing read data for each color on the same line without errors.

Abstract: Preservation of rendering intent when a rendering model encapsulated in a transform-based profile is used in a measurement-based CMS. Source device color values are converted to generate perceptually rendered values using a perceptual transform of the transform-based color profile. Perceptually rendered appearance values of a color appearance space are generated by converting the perceptually rendered values using predefined ICC viewing conditions. Using a gamut mapping model (GMM), the generated appearance values are converted to generate destination device color values within a color gamut of a destination device. The GMM uses a PRMG boundary description and a gamut boundary description of the destination device to perform the mapping. A transform is constructed from the source device color values and the corresponding destination device color values. Color values of an image generated by the source device are converted to color values of a destination device using the constructed transform.

  • Patent number: 7957588
Abstract: To acquire the signal values of all the color components (RGB) at the positions of all the pixels constituting an image, the processing for interpolating the signal value of a lacking color component is performed by converting the gradation space from a linear gradation space into a square root gradation space with offset as follows. An offset ? in proportion to the ISO sensitivity preset for an imaging device is added to a linear gradation signal x. The value (x+?) after the offset is converted into a gamma space of one-half power. Therefore, the errors contained in the signal values after the gamma conversion are equalized over the whole gradation by the error propagation rule. The slope of the curve 23 indicating the square-root gradation space with offset is not steeper in a region (e.g. 0<x<0.1) where the linear input is smaller than that of the curve 22 indicating the mere square-root gradation space.

  • Patent number: 7932902
Abstract: Technologies are described herein for emitting raster and vector content from a single software component. An application program maintains an in-memory representation of a document in an intermediate format. When the application program needs to render the document, it determines whether the target device is a raster or a vector device. The application program then utilizes a single software component to render the document for the target device. The application program provides an instruction to the software component as to whether the in-memory representation should be rendered as vector content or as raster content. In response to receiving the instruction, the software component retrieves the in-memory representation and renders it according to the instruction received from the application program. The rendered content is then provided to the target device.

  • Patent number: 7869092
Abstract: In an image processing for printing a monochrome image, color deviation can be suppressed to print a favorable monochrome image. Specifically, the printing of a monochrome image is performed by using black ink in all of a color reproduction region (color gamut) including a gray axis and regions other than the gray axis. This avoids the use of C, M, and Y for the expression of the monochrome image to suppress the color deviation due to slight imbalance among amounts of three colors of inks.

  • Patent number: 7869088
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for determining a preferred size for a Link LUT as used in conversion from an input color space defined by an input ICC profile into an output color space defined by an output ICC profile. The Link LUT may be incorporated within a device link structure as generally defined in the ICC specification or within a Link Color Conversion CMR in an AFP architecture system. The preferred size is determined from the size of an input LUT associated with the input ICC profile and the size of an output LUT associated with the output ICC profile. In AFP architecture systems, the input and output LUTs and profiles may each be incorporated in appropriate Color Conversion CMRs. The preferred size is determined as a reduced size that requires less computation to generate but does not cause loss of accuracy in conversion between the input and output color spaces.

  • Patent number: 7855809
Abstract: An image processing apparatus executes an error diffusion process to multivalue image data consisting of a plurality of density components. A first processor executes the error diffusion process by changing at least one of a quantization threshold value and a quantization diffusion coefficient which are used for the error diffusion process based on a value of the multivalue image data of the density components or a value calculated from the multivalue image data value. A second processor executes the error diffusion process by setting the quantization threshold value and the quantization diffusion coefficient which are used for the error diffusion process into fixed values. An error diffusion processing controller controls to execute the error diffusion process to at least one color among the density components by the first processor and execute the error diffusion process to other density components by the second processor.

Abstract: Identifying the substrate type of a target substrate before patterning by a marking engine produces an opportunity to adjust the marking engine. The adjustments can enable the marking engine to produce higher quality work.
