The outer ring and the spokes comprise a translucent material for permitting the passage of light therethrough. An outer light source is provided in the outer ring. The outer light source has an elongate portion extending into a first of the spokes. A pair of elongate light sources. One of the elongate light sources is provided in a second of the spokes and another of the elongate light sources is provided in a third of the spokes. The outer light source and the elongate light sources are electrically connected together.

The light-directing panel of the present invention is at least partially light reflective and at least partially light passing. The light directing panel directs and redirects light from the included at least two edge lighting-type light source to the included display signages. The light ultimately incident on the display signages is greater than it would normally be without the light-directing panel.

    Abstract: A lighting structure and method of forming a lighting structure including a light transmitting lens positioned in front of a light source, whereby the light transmitting lens has a substantially non-opaque front surface and a light receiving rear surface, and an array of substantially tubular elements positioned proximate to the substantially non-opaque front surface of the lens. The lighting structure may further include a reflective surface that projects light from the light source to the rear surface of the light transmitting lens and through the light transmitting lens. When the lighting structure is turned off, the array of substantially tubular elements is capable of making lighting structure appear to be a part of the surrounding surface in which the lighting structure is embedded. When the lighting structure is turned on, the array of substantially tubular elements masks the sight of the light source and shields a viewer's eyes from the glare of the reflector.

    Abstract: A fluorescent lamp lens assembly for commercial display refrigerators, the fluorescent lens assembly being generally tubular in configuration and including a length generally approximating the length of the fluorescent lamp. Both of the caps allow the terminal pins of the fluorescent lamp to extend outwardly allowing the pins to connect to the lamppost of a conventional fluorescent lamp fixture. One of the ends (e.g., the top end) is provided with a removable cap allowing a spent lamp to be removed therefrom and replaced with a new one.

    Abstract: A modular light box comprises a rectangular frame defining an enclosure and a front rectangular opening. The frame is formed of a pair of side panels, a bottom panel and a top panel, each of which is provided with a substantially flat, rectangular outer surface and an electrical wiring port extending from within the enclosure out through an opening in the outer surface of the panel. A translucent display panel bearing one or more decorative or informational images is mounted within the opening defined by the frame. Another such display panel may optionally mounted in the rear opening in the frame. One or more lamps are mounted within the enclosure to provide backlighting for the front, and optionally the rear, display panel. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, one or more of the panels forming the frame of the modular light box is constructed with a rectangular core of foamed plastic having a rigid support frame about its periphery and a plastic layer adhered to each of the major surfaces thereof.
