The inner layer is translucent such that when lit, the lighting shines through the layer and illuminates the middle and outer layers or shines through all the layers and through the window well and into the room. Alternatively, the inner layer is reflective so that it reflects light directed towards it into the other layers. The various layers can be variably transparent, translucent and/or opaque and can be shaded. By spacing the layers apart, depth can be imparted to a viewer. The outermost layer can have the appearance of a metallic film and/or artistic representations. This outer film can be stenciled such that patterns of light shine through in various places.

Abstract: A light source module for generating polarized light includes a light emitting element, a reflector, and an optical element. The light emitting element generates a light ray, and the reflector reflects the light ray towards the optical element. The optical element includes a light splitting face and a reflection face. The light splitting face receives the light ray, and an angle between the light splitting face and the incident light ray is at about a Brewster's Angle. After the light ray is irradiated to the light splitting face, the light ray is divided into a refraction light and a reflection light. The reflection face reflects the refraction light, and the reflection face is substantially perpendicular to a path of the refraction light. Therefore, a light source with a high degree of polarization is realized by a design of the light splitting face and the reflection face.

Abstract: An LED module includes an LED having an optic axis and a lens fixed over the LED for refracting light emitted by the LED. The lens has a same cross section along a front-to-rear direction thereof. The lens has an inner incidence surface facing the LED and an outer emission surface. The inner incidence surface is concave toward the emission surface. The emission surface has a middle part around the optic axis of the LED concave toward the incidence surface, and two convex lateral parts off the optic axis of the LED. A peak intensity for the light generated by the LED and penetrating through the lens occurs within the convex lateral parts of the emission surface.

Abstract: A methodological approach of achieving a systematic exchange of light by employment and interplay of photo optic bodies via transmissive mediums. The present invention provides a synaptical junction or medium of exchange between optic bodies so that energy in the form of light, following behavioural patterns of waves and particles, may mutually be exchanged. Incidental rays are methodically counter reflected between neighbouring optic bodies with resultant dispersion and separation of various wavelengths. Several benefits accrue from this rendez-vous of optical bodies within the confines of a Light Distributor. Light can be more readily re-directed within 360 degrees and concentrated toward specific target areas. The unit has retro-reflective properties and generates a secondary visible light which may be reflected to all cardinal points.

Abstract: A lens that angularly redistributes light from an LED is disclosed. The desired illuminance (power per area) pattern for an LED/lens combination has a relatively flat center, a knee, and a gradual tail. By overlapping adjacent combinations' tails, the resulting illuminance pattern may be generally uniform, with relatively loose tolerances on LED/lens placement and performance. The lens has a proximal face with a concave spherical indentation with its center at the light source. The lens's distal face has a “center thickness” (CT) on-axis, a peak thickness away from a longitudinal axis of about 1.0 to 1.2 times the CT, a radius at which the peak thickness occurs of about 0.5 to 1.0 times the CT, a radius at which the thickness returns to the CT of about 1.1 to 1.5 times the CT, and a radius (maximum lateral extent) of the lens of about 1.6 to 1.9 times the CT.
