The outward surface is opposite to the inward surface in the first direction and is exposed from the light-transmissive covering film.

In other embodiments, the light engines include a heat sink provided with channels. Coolant may be introduced into one of the channels, and may then circulate into the chamber of each optic to remove heat generated by the light source from the chamber. Each sub-assembly has LEDs mounted on a circuit substrate with conductors to electrically connect the LEDs. These circuits are thermally interfaced and attached to thermally conductive material selected, treated, or processed to obtain desired light reflecting properties.
