  • Patent number: 4704668
Abstract: A sleeve type lamp stabilizer that is made so that it will fit over a lamp socket, to be rigidly held in place with respect to the socket. The stabilizer can be clamped to the socket or rigidly connected to the lamp housing which mounts the socket. The sleeve type stabilizer has pads that support the lamp at the lamp neck. The need for support results from the common practice to provide a small amount of clearance between the lamp socket and the mating base of the lamp to insure that the lamp will not corrode in place or otherwise become stuck in its socket when it is time to replace the lamp with present large lamps. This slight amount of play in the socket translates into a large amount of movement at the opposite end of the lamp and thus the independent support stabilizes the lamp, and prevents mechanical vibrations from prematurely causing lamp failure.

  • Patent number: 4654766
Abstract: The bulb seat structure serves to replace the conventional bulb seat in a string of bulbs. In assembling operation, the two conductive rods of the bulb are inserted into the grooves of the bulb seat, and two wires are twisted into a spiral wire to connect all bulbs in parallel to form a string of bulbs.

  • Patent number: 4599682
Abstract: An item of apparel is disclosed that can be worn on various parts of the body such as the ankle, the arm, the wrist or the like comprising a fabric sleeve having Velcro at its ends so that it can be formed into a loop embracing the user's limb. A series of light-emitting diodes are mounted on the sleeve and connected to a battery powered circuit having a mercury switch so that the diodes are illuminated depending upon the position of the user's limb. Each diode is mounted in a reflector that magnifies the diode's illumination.

  • Patent number: 4536828
Abstract: A lighting device of the free-standing type, capable of diffusing beams of light rays propagating through and emitting from the optical wave guides. A reflecting member is placed opposite the exit end of the optical wave guides to diffusingly reflect and diverge the light rays issuing from the optical wave guides thereby to light up a wide area with soft light rays.

  • Patent number: 4514791
Abstract: A lamp ribbon is made of a number of lamp units fixed to a belt construction. The belt construction is made of an upper belt layer and a lower belt layer, each generally formed as a strip and made of a flexible electrically insulating material, which are laid against and fixed to one another, and also includes two strip shaped conductors which are laid between the upper and lower belt layers in parallel and are sandwiched therebetween. Parts of the lower belt layer at a number of places are absent, so as to expose the two conductors for a certain distance at each of these places, and at each such place a pair of apertures are formed through the upper belt layer between the two conductors. Each of the lamp units includes a bulb socket abutted against a part of the outer surface of the upper belt layer opposed to one of the places where the lower belt layer is absent.

  • Patent number: 4514794
Abstract: An attachment provision is provided for exchangeable accessories for illumination bodies, which comprises an adapter plate having a receiving opening and which plate is attached to an illumination body for supporting an accessory having an axis. The adapter plate has at least two recesses for receiving and supporting an adapter flange of an accessory. The recesses are disposed at a distance, but are not disposed such that they would meet the requirements of an n-fold rotation axis with n equal to or larger than 2 for said axis. The accessory is provided with an adapter flange with at least two cam toes to grip through the recesses of the adapter plate. The cam toes are disposed at a distance, but are not disposed such that they would meet the requirements of an n-fold rotation axis directed vertically to the flange plane with n equal to or larger than 2 for said axis and where the cam toes support the accessory.

  • Patent number: 4498125
Abstract: A lamp includes a cup for being affixed to a support and for enclosing a lamp socket. An arm is affixed to the cup and has an initial portion extending upwardly and outwardly and an upper portion extending inwardly to a terminal end located vertically above the cup. A lamp shade is fixed to the terminal end of said arm which is the sole support for said lamp shade. The arm is preferably formed of a relatively heavy gauge tubular material.

  • Patent number: 4363087
Abstract: A mounting post for holding a light emitting diode in an electrical pushbutton switch is formed by a cylindrical base which has a pair of cut-out sections located intermediate the top and bottom surfaces of the base which are diametrically opposed on opposite sides of the base. The cut-out sections divide a pair of elongated, parallel passageways for the leads of a light emitting diode (LED) or other light device into upper and lower segments so that a portion of the leads of the inserted LED are exposed in the cut-out sections. The leads of the LED are then crimped in the cut-out sections so that the lead forced against a rear wall of these sections with the leads being restrained from moving by engagement of the leads with upper and lower walls of the cut-out sections.

  • Patent number: 4337508
Abstract: An incandescent lamp fixture includes an incandescent lamp screwed into a plastic lamp socket, a metallic heat dissipater in intimate heat transfer contact with the socket and having heat dissipating fins extending out from the socket. A metallic reflector surrounds the lamp and is mounted on the dissipater in heat transfer contact with it. An open-ended cylindrical lamp shade is connected to the heat dissipater and is in spaced, concentric relation to the dissipater, socket and lamp to permit free flow of air heated by the fixture to pass between the outside of the reflector and through the fins of the dissipater on the one side and the interior of the shade on the other. This will keep the temperature of the lamp base below the breakdown temperature of the socket and switch and below the breakdown temperature of the cement between the lamp base and the lamp bulb. A switch assembly includes a switch base mounted to the lamp socket and incoming power wires mounted directly on the switch base.

  • Patent number: 4171499
Abstract: To permit economical attachment of a socket end to the press of a lamp, the socket is made of a deformable synthetic plastic material, for example Teflon PFA, the socket having concentric cylindrical surfaces and being of cup shape, and the lamp press having rectangular cross section, the socket being heated to softening temperature and the lamp press to melting temperature of the socket material and then inserted into the cup-shaped socket to permit instantaneous melting andflowing of the socket material around the edges of the rectangular press, and thus seat the socket on the press end. The socket is preferably preheated in a metal mold block, and the press by a flame directed towards the end press of the lamp from a side remote from that of the electrical connection to the lead-through of the press.
