Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus in a RBS and a UE for reference signal (RS) measurements in an OFDM system, that enable having a configurable RS transmission bandwidth which is smaller than the system bandwidth. This allows for better interference coordination of RS, which in turn improves the UE RS measurements used for different services such as positioning. The RBS retrieves the RS transmission bandwidth, determines a RS measurement bandwidth based on this RS transmission bandwidth, and transmits the determined bandwidth to the UE. The UE receives the RS measurement bandwidth and measures the RS in a bandwidth determined based on the received measurement bandwidth and the UE capability.

  • Patent number: 9668148
Abstract: Fiber, cable, and wireless data channels are typically impaired by reflectors and other imperfections, producing a channel state with echoes and frequency shifts in data waveforms. Here, methods of using OTFS pilot symbol waveform bursts to automatically produce a detailed 2D model of the channel state are presented. This 2D channel state can then be used to optimize data transmission. For wireless data channels, an even more detailed 2D model of channel state can be produced by using polarization and multiple antennas in the process. Once 2D channel states are known, the system turns imperfect data channels from a liability to an advantage by using channel imperfections to boost data transmission rates. The methods can be used to improve legacy data transmission modes in multiple types of media, and are particularly useful for producing new types of robust and high capacity wireless communications using non-legacy OTFS data transmission methods.

Abstract: In a wireless communication base station device, a modulation unit carries out modulation processing for Dch data after coding to generate a Dch data symbol. A modulation unit carries out modulation processing for Lch data after coding to generate an Lch data symbol. An allocation unit allocates the Dch data symbol and Lch data symbol to each sub-carrier composing an OFDM symbol and outputs the allocated sub-carrier to a multiplex unit. In this case, the allocation unit allocates the Dch data symbol to a plurality of resource blocks where one Dch is arranged at an interval equal to integral multiples of the number of resource blocks composing a resource block group.

Abstract: In some examples, data to be transmitted by a transmit node to at least one receive node may be compressed according to one or more sets of compression parameters. One or more estimated peak to average power ratios (PAPRs) to transmit one or more resulting versions of compressed data may be calculated based on precoder data associated with the at least one receive node. A version of the compressed data that has an estimated PAPR that is less than a PAPR threshold value may be sent to the transmit node to transmit to the at least one receive node. Alternately, a version of the compressed data that has an estimated PAPR that is a lowest estimated PAPR relative to at least some other estimated PAPRs corresponding to other versions of the compressed data may be sent to the transmit node to transmit to the at least one receive node.

Abstract: An OFDM transmitter spreads original data symbols with a complex-valued spreading matrix derived from a discrete Fourier transform. Spread data symbols are mapped to OFDM subcarriers. Spreading and mapping are configured to produce a transmitted spread-OFDM signal with a low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and orthogonal code spaces. In MIMO systems, the complex-valued spreading matrix can comprise a MIMO precoding matrix, and the code spaces can comprise MIMO subspaces. In Cooperative-MIMO, a combination of low code-space cross correlation and low PAPR can be achieved.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method to introduce complementing training symbols into a 802.11p OFDM frame in vehicular communications, wherein a transmitter sends encrypted information from a first unit to a receiver of a specific second unit or a respective receiver of a number of second units and wherein fixed training symbols, which are implemented in a transmitter chip, are multiplexed with the information and transmitted to the receiver for channel estimation at the receiver side. In order to improve channel estimation complementing training symbols are inserted at the transmitter side immediately after an LLC sub-layer, where the LLC sub-layer is software defined and can be modified. It also relates to a receiver for exploiting the inserted complementing training symbols in order to improve channel estimation in 802.11 p OFDM vehicular communications, which is arranged to reproduce the complementing training symbols inserted in accordance with the method.
