  • Patent number: 10715205
Abstract: A method and a testing device for determining signal-to-noise headroom of a pair of conductors are provided. In the method and testing device, a gain of electric signal transmissions over a pair of conductors is varied to reach a first gain. Prior to reaching the first gain a transition between reception failure and successful reception of the electric signal transmissions does not occur. A first electric signal having the first gain is transmitted over a first end of the pair of conductors and it is determined that the transition between reception failure and successful reception of the first electric signal occurred. A signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) headroom for the pair of conductors is determined based on the first gain at which the transition between reception failure and successful reception occurred.

  • Patent number: 10673718
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and apparatus for performing a new kind of traceroute. This traceroute is referred to herein as a “reverse” traceroute, as it enables a given network node to determine the path of packets sent to it from another node. Preferably, an encapsulating tunnel between the two nodes is leveraged. Preferably, a given network node (“first node”) performs the reverse traceroute by sending encapsulated inner packets in the tunnel to another network node (“second node”). The second node reflects the inner packets back to the first node. Preferably, the inner packets are configured such that their IP header TTLs expire at intermediate nodes (such as routers), and such that the resulting error messages are reported to the first node. In this way, the first node obtains information about the topology of the network and the path taken by inbound packets.

Also, the signal is generated and transmitted according to an auto negotiation protocol. Therefore, stability and reliability of the vehicle network can be enhanced, thereby improving overall performance of the vehicle network.

  • Patent number: 10271376
Abstract: Delay in IMS call establishment and other time critical data transfers may be reduced by seeking alternative transmission methods for time critical data, when a transmission cannot be completed or the Radio Access Technology is otherwise unavailable. A Critical Service Manager (“CSM”) receives and evaluates priority information about a given data transfer. By evaluating this priority information, the CSM can identify priority data, or latency intolerant data, such as IMS calls or emergency calls. Where network rejects a connection request and issues a wait timer, the CSM may lower the retransmission count to hasten a permanent transmission failure. Upon a permanent transmission failure, the CSM can determine an alternative protocol for transmission of the priority data, such as transmitting data through circuit switch fallback, via Wi-Fi, or through another legacy RAT.
