Communication Over Free Space Patents (Class 370/310)
  • Patent number: 11432207
Abstract: A wireless device is configured to support connections to one or more serving cells in a first radio access network (RAN), using a first radio access technology (RAT) and to one or more serving cells in a second RAN, using a second RAT that differs from the first RAT. The wireless device receives one or more handover commands as part of a handover of the wireless device to a base station in the first RAN, and determines, based on the one or more handover commands, that the wireless device is to revert from a currently configured Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) configuration to a PDCP configuration associated with the first RAT. The wireless device then reverts to the PDCP configuration associated with the first RAT, in response to said determining.

  • Patent number: 11271894
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide systems, methods, apparatus, and computer-readable storage media that support private querying and exchanging of domain information, such as Domain Name System (DNS) information, between multiple devices. To illustrate, two devices may generate and exchange a list domain information queries and a list of domain information items, respectively. The lists may be encrypted by respective private keys of the devices. Each device may double-encrypt the respective received list using the respective private key, reorder the double-encrypted list, and transmit the reordered double-encrypted list to the other device. The reordered double-encrypted list of domain information items may be compared to the double-encrypted list of domain information queries to identify indices of domain information queries that match domain information items while maintaining privacy of the domain information queries and domain information items at the devices.

  • Patent number: 11265954
Abstract: In this invention, we disclose methods for enabling ad hoc cellular base station functionality within a user equipment when the connection quality between a base station and the user equipment is limited or nonexistent. These methods include measuring a connection quality between a user equipment and its serving base station. If the connection quality is below a threshold, the user equipment can enable its internal ad hoc cellular base station functionality. This is done by running a software within the user equipment that (a) checks the connection quality periodically, and (b) enables ad hoc cellular base station functionality of the connection threshold dips below a certain value. In one embodiment, that threshold could be the same threshold value that a user equipment would use if it were making a decision to handoff to another base station based on poor connection quality.

Abstract: In a first novel aspect, UE receives a mapped EPS bearer context IE during a PDU session establishment or modification procedure. UE diagnoses whether an operation error occurs for a mapped EPS bearer context. If so, UE deletes the mapped EPS bearer context with a 5GSM cause. In a second novel aspect, UE receives a QoS flow description IE during a PDU session establishment or modification procedure. UE diagnoses whether an operation error occurs for a QoS flow description. If so, UE either rejects the modification command or deletes the QoS flow description with a 5GSM cause. In a third novel aspect, UE receives a QoS flow description IE during an EPS bearer activation or modification procedure. UE diagnoses whether an operation error occurs for a QoS flow description. If so, UE includes an ePCO/PCO IE with a 5GSM cause in an activation or modification accept message.

Abstract: A phased-array antenna system includes antenna elements of an RF front-end that each propagate a wireless beam portion. A digital beamforming system generates a digital beam corresponding to the wireless beam that is transmitted or received from the phased-array antenna system. Digital beamforming processors are each associated with a proper subset of the antenna elements. The digital beamforming processors can be collectively configured to iteratively process digital beam portions of the digital beam in a plurality of iteration levels comprising a lowest iteration level associated with lowest-level digital beam portions corresponding to the respective wireless beam portions at each of the respective antenna elements and a highest iteration level associated with the digital beam. Each digital beam portion associated with a given iteration level includes a sum of lesser digital beam portions from a next lower iteration level.

  • Patent number: 11234162
Abstract: A wireless device may receive packets according to a protocol, such as Bluetooth, and may rapidly react to receive an interfering RF packet instead of dropping the first RF packet and the interfering RF packet, to decrease message delay due to collisions in high device density environments. When a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) difference between the interfering RF packet and the first RF packet exceeds a threshold, the device may detect the interfering packet and resync a portion of its circuitry to lock on to and receive the interfering packet. The wireless receiver may detect the interfering RF packet by detecting one or more of: a specific resync byte sequence, an increase in RSSI, or a phase shift. Additionally, a wireless device may add the specific resync byte sequence to an RF packet of a standard protocol.
