Portable Address Responsive Receiver Patents (Class 370/313)
  • Patent number: 8681683
Abstract: Providing for inter-system idle mobility management for independent mobile networks is described herein. By way of example, registration of multiple mobile IP (MIP) addresses to a mobile device can be utilized to facilitate inter-system device tracking. An Internet Protocol (IP) home agent that serves the mobile device can associate the MIPs with a home IP address of the mobile device. When communication is received for the home address, device paging can be initiated by utilizing at least a plurality of the MIPs bound to the home address. A mobile device response can provide a current active network address, and the received communication can be delivered via such active network address. As disclosed herein, the mobile device can switch attachment among the networks without signaling such networks, based on the multiple address bindings. Accordingly, significant power reduction can be afforded to mobile devices in idle mode.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for determining a radio frame bearing a multimedia broadcast multicast service notification message, including: a sending end configuring a Multicast Control Channel (MCCH) Modification Period (MCCHMP), a period coefficient (PeriodCoeff) and a notification message offset (NotificationOffset), and when a system frame number (SFN) modulo a ratio of the MCCHMP to the PeriodCoeff is equal to the NotificationOffset, a radio frame corresponding to a value of said SFN is the radio frame of sending the Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) notification message. The present invention obtains the radio frame of sending the MBMS notification message by less MCCH information, so that the receiving and analyzing processes of the terminal save power.

Abstract: Counting of time is started when a housing of a foldable type of mobile terminal changes from an open state to a close state, and it is detected whether it is during counting or not when there is an incoming call. In the case where it is during counting, count time is acquired to check whether it is less than predetermined time or not. In the case where it is not during counting, operating states of a display section 4 and a backlight 5 are detected to check whether they are coincident with operating states registered in advance or not. In the case where the count time is less than the predetermined time, or in the case where the operating states of the display section 4 and the backlight 5 are coincident with them, a ring tone is outputted with first sound volume. In the case where the count time is the predetermined time or more, or in the case where the operating states of the display section 4 and the backlight 5 are not coincident with them, a ring tone is outputted with second sound volume.

Abstract: A mobile station (MS), a base station (BS), a transmission method and a computer storage medium thereof are provided. When the MS requests a bandwidth from the BS, it may generate a selected transmission sequence and a quick access message. The selected transmission sequence comprises pre-defined bit information (e.g., a flow identification, a size of the bandwidth or the like), and the quick access message comprises a station identification of the MS. The MS may transmit the transmission sequence and the quick access message to the BS in a frame so that the BS may allocate the bandwidth to the MS according to the size of the bandwidth, the station identification and the flow identification. Thereby, the amount of the control signals needed when the MS requests a bandwidth from the BS may be decreased.

Abstract: A mobile telecommunications network is configured to dynamically adapt transmitted content according to the channel quality of the network link connecting a destination mobile device to the mobile telecommunications network. Channel quality indicators (CQIs) for the mobile devices associated with the mobile telecommunications network are cached at one or more support nodes of a core network. Components of the core network therefore can request the CQI of a mobile device from a corresponding support node rather than repeating a process of determining anew the condition of the network linking to a mobile device each time content is to be communicated to or from a mobile device. A service provider receiving the CQI for a mobile device from the cache of a support node can adapt the content to be provided to the mobile device to the particular conditions of the network represented by the CQI.

Abstract: A method and system for restricting remote access by users of directory access protocol client systems without using an directory access protocol “netgroup” option by defining a “remote_allowed” attribute for a entire user group, which, if enabled, allows granting of all remote access requests to all clients, but which, if disabled, allows granting of remote access requests to client systems specifically listed in a “hosts” attribute. In this manner, directory administrators may configure remote access rights for groups of users without having to perform cumbersome and tedious “netgroup”. Subsequent to granting access, the authentication, such as a log in, may be performed on the user. The invention is particularly useful for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) systems, where the “hosts” attribute can list client systems by Internet Protocol address, by hostname, or a by combination of address and hostname.

The logon information will provide sufficient information to allow the mobile terminal to obtain network access via the appropriate access point. Additional logon information may be provided for logging on to a network entity once network access is afforded.

Abstract: A self-repair system provides resource failure tolerance using an interconnection network that provides interconnection information identifying connections between system resources, redundant resources and ports that are connectable to consumers of the system resources. A controller identifies both defective system resources and the affected sinks connected to the defective system resources from the interconnection network. The controller further identifies compatible resources from the system resources and redundant resources that are capable of replacing the defective system resources for each of the affected sinks from the interconnection network. The controller determines a respective cost associated with each of the compatible resources, and in response to the determined costs, selects at least one of the compatible resources as a replacement resource for each of the defective system resources.

Abstract: For each audio and data service, a table of contents (TOC) specifies which logical channel may carry data. The TOC may be transmitted over the NRSC-5 transmission system using a pre-defined protocol, which is received and decoded at an NRSC-5 receiver apparatus that extracts the TOC. When a user or an application requests a specific service from the receiver, the receiver logic may examine the TOC and may identify which LC may carry the requested service data. The receiver may only decode the LCs that are needed for the requested service, and may not decode other unneeded LCs thereby conserving power and memory.

Abstract: Systems and methods for message-based advertising in a wireless communications network are described. A digital message is contained in a data packet set in transit from a terminal of a sender to a terminal of a recipient. At least one of the terminals is implemented as a mobile telephone. The digital message is received through a network connection. A processor determines a context for the digital message and matches the message context to content of advertisements stored in an advertisement database in order to identify at least one relevant advertisement. The data packet set is transmitted to the terminal of the recipient. A processor retrieves the relevant advertisement(s) from the advertisement database and generates a confirmation message containing a delivery status of the data packet set. The confirmation message includes the relevant advertisement and is transmitted to the terminal of the sender.

The extension header indicates a hop-by-hop option header, the hop-by-hop extension header including a router alert option header type indicating that the extension field is optional for a router to read, and a field providing information for a gateway support node of a packet radio system network. A gateway support node is thereby provided with information, which may be required for example to support a mobile internet protocol (IP). However, by providing the router alert option field, a router is not required to read the remainder of the hop-by-hop option field.
