  • Patent number: 9960982
Abstract: A method for measuring and reporting performance parameters in a network having at least one originator for generating test protocol data units, and multiple reflectors for relaying the test protocol data units along successive segments of a test path in the network. The method generates the test protocol data units at the originator and transmits the test protocol data unit along a test path that includes multiple reflectors. Each reflector relays the test protocol data unit to the next reflector along the test path. Measurements of performance parameters are collected from the multiple reflectors in the test protocol data unit by inserting timestamps into the test protocol data unit at the originator and each of the reflectors to identify the departure and arrival times for each test protocol data unit at the originator and each of the reflectors in both the downstream and upstream directions along the test path.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method used in a cluster manager controlling a cluster for a terminal device served by a radio node, and to the associated cluster manager. The cluster manager is under control of a control node and the cluster includes the radio node. The method includes: receiving Layer 1 (L1)/Layer 2 (L2) measurements of the terminal device on the radio node and one or more neighboring radio nodes of the radio node; determining a target radio node, to which the terminal device is to be handed over, based on the L1/L2 measurements; determining whether the target radio node is within the cluster; and if it is determined that the target radio node is within the cluster, determining whether the terminal device is to perform handover from a beam of the radio node to a beam of the target radio node.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for determining a carrier for a wireless device. Data may be communicated between a wireless device and a wireless communication network over a first carrier. It may be determined whether the wireless communication network provides a fallback protocol for switching the wireless device from the first carrier to a second carrier. The wireless device may be instructed to communicate with the wireless communication network over the second carrier when it is determined that the wireless communication network does not provide the fallback protocol.

  • Patent number: 9826474
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and program products are disclosed for allowing wireless devices in two wireless access networks whose coverage areas overlap to communicate with their respective access nodes. Groups may be assigned to wireless devices in the access networks and the groups may be used by wireless devices in the access networks to determine whether to access a communication medium or not. Received powers may also be used by wireless devices in the access networks to determine whether or not to access a communication medium. A wireless device in a first access network can determine whether to access (e.g., compete for access to) the communication medium by comparing a measured power of transmission from a second access node with an indication of a minimum received power above which wireless devices in a second access network formed by a second access node are allowed to contend for access to the communication medium.

Abstract: There is provided a method of estimating channel spread at a receiver of a user equipment, UE, for one antenna port of a network node. The method is performed in the UE. The method comprises acquiring channel estimates for one antenna port of a network node. The method further comprises determining a variation of acquired channel estimates representing subframes associated with a common precoder, the subframes comprising resource blocks scheduled to the UE. The method further comprises estimating the channel spread by using a pre-determined mapping from the determined variation to a channel spread value. The criterion can be an identifier corresponding to a mobile device, where the identifier maps to a predetermined set of resources. Examples of the identifier can include a media access control identifier (MACID), a cell radio network temporary identifier (C-RNTI), a short C-RNTI, etc. Further, the criterion can be physical resources corresponding to a transmission, where the acknowledgment is responsive to the transmission. Moreover, the acknowledgment can be sent or received in connection with a cooperation technique (e.g.

Abstract: In a method for improving the transmission efficiency in a communication system with a layered protocol stack, data packets are processed on an upper protocol layer. Data packets are forwarded to a lower protocol layer for transmission and the transmission is performed with variable channel access delays. The upper protocol layer is notified by the lower protocol layer when a transmission is started to allow a synchronization of timers in the upper protocol layer. If a layer performs a scheduling of data packets for the transmission, a rescheduling is performed alternatively or in addition during a channel access delay. Devices and software programs embodying the invention are also described.

  • Patent number: 9792447
Abstract: For a host that executes one or more guest virtual machines (GVMs), some embodiments provide a novel encryption method for encrypting the data messages sent by the GVMs. The method initially receives a data message to send for a GVM executing on the host. The method then determines whether it should encrypt the data message based on a set of one or more encryption rules. When the process determines that it should encrypt the received data message, it encrypts the data message and forwards the encrypted data message to its destination; otherwise, the method just forwards the received data message unencrypted to its destination. In some embodiments, the host encrypts differently the data messages for different GVMs that execute on the host.
