  • Publication number: 20140328220
Abstract: Front end circuitry for a wireless communication system includes a first antenna node, a second antenna node, a first triplexer, a second triplexer, and front end switching circuitry coupled between the first triplexer, the second triplexer, the first antenna node, and the second antenna node. The front end switching circuitry is configured to selectively couple the first triplexer to one of the first antenna node and the second antenna node and couple the second triplexer to a different one of the first antenna node and the second antenna node. By using a first triplexer and a second triplexer in the mobile front end circuitry, the mobile front end circuitry may operate in one or more carrier aggregation configurations while reducing the maximum load presented to the first antenna node and the second antenna node, thereby improving the performance of the front end circuitry.

Abstract: Mobile network services are performed at the edge of a mobile data network in a way that is transparent to most of the existing equipment in the mobile data network. The mobile data network includes a radio access network and a core network. A service mechanism in the radio access network breaks out data coming from a basestation, and performs one or more mobile network services at the edge of the mobile data network based on the broken out data. A subscriber database is dynamically built to support authorization, authentication and accounting for the services performed at the edge of the mobile data network for the broken out data. Abstract: Data streams stored in buffers are modulated by modulation sections. Multipliers multiply the signals output from the modulation sections by weights output from a weight control section. The signals output from the multipliers are added up by addition sections, subjected to radio transmission processing by transmission radio sections and sent through antennas. A buffer control section controls the buffers based on a retransmission count output from a retransmission count detection section. The weight control section outputs weights different from weights at the time of previous transmission to the multipliers every time data is retransmitted. This allows a diversity gain at the time of data retransmission to be increased even if a time variation of the propagation path environment for radio signals is slow.

  • Patent number: 8693582
Abstract: A novel and useful multi-antenna receiver that receives, demodulates and decodes a broadcast signal, whose modulation and encoding of time and timing information allow for reliable and power-efficient operation. The multi-antenna receiver of the present invention is adapted to eliminate or substantially reduce the reception nulls that occur in receivers having a single antenna that is placed in a fixed position. Two or more antennas are employed whereby the receiver generates a combined signal based on a combination of the individual antenna signals or selects one of the antenna signals for input to the receiver based on desired criteria such as signal-to-noise-and-interference-ratio (SNIR). This results in greater robustness of the communication link by reducing or eliminating reception nulls and by rejecting interference through the selection of the antenna for which the signal-to-interference ratio is higher.

Abstract: A channel characteristic obtained from a pilot signal is stored for a prescribed number of symbols and a Fourier transform is performed (1), the power of each Doppler frequency component is calculated (2), filtering is performed in the time direction for each Doppler frequency component (3), noise components are masked (4), power changes between mutually adjacent Doppler frequency components are emphasized (5), and motion information is generated by comparison with a predetermined decision threshold (6). Velocity detection that detects velocity of motion from a received signal with high precision in order to improve mobile reception performance by optimizing demodulation operations according to velocity of motion thereby becomes possible.

  • Patent number: 8681665
Abstract: A radio transceiver including a transmitter and a receiver. A filter coupled to an output of the transmitter, the filter has one or more inductors and one or more capacitors, where the filter is tuned by varying one or more capacitance values of the one or more capacitors in the filter to tune the filter. The one or more capacitors are Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) ceramic integrated capacitors that are each tuned by application of a bias voltage thereto. A filter tuner circuit is configured to apply the bias voltage to the one or more capacitors, where the bias voltage is initially established as a stored initial value, and where the bias voltage is refined by a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller configured to optimize a power within the transceiver. This abstract is not to be considered limiting since various implementations may incorporate more, fewer or different elements.

  • Patent number: 8670383
Abstract: A technique for improved throughput at an access point (AP) involves when frames are received for transmission by the AP, queuing the frames for a particular station. A system constructed according to the technique may include an aggregation and queuing layer. Station queues may be processed by the aggregation and queuing layer before being given to radio hardware for transmission. In an illustrative embodiment, when frames are received by the aggregation and queuing layer, the packet will be assigned a target delivery time (TDT) and an acceptable delivery time (ADT). The TDT is the “ideal” time to transmit a frame, based on its jitter and throughput requirements. Frames are mapped on to a time axis for transmission by TDT. In an illustrative embodiment, each frame is mapped by priority, so that there are separate maps for voice, video, best effort, and background frames. There will be gaps between frames for transmission that can be used for aggregation.
