  • Patent number: 9807765
Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting a data frame by a station in a wireless local area network. The station obtains a transmission opportunity (TXOP) for a bandwidth, the TXOP indicating an interval of time during which the station has a right to initiate frame exchange sequences onto wireless medium. The station sets a transmit bandwidth parameter of a non-initial physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) of a plurality of PPDUs to be transmitted during the TXOP based on a transmit bandwidth parameter of a preceding PPDU of the plurality of PPDUs. The transmit bandwidth parameter of the non-initial PPDU is set to be same or narrower than the transmit bandwidth parameter of the preceding PPDU. A bandwidth indicated by the transmit bandwidth parameter of the non-initial PPDU or the preceding PPDU includes at least one of 20 MHz, 40 MHz and 80 MHz. The station transmits the non-initial PPDU during the TXOP.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for uplink scheduling in the presence of narrowband interference on, for instance, a long term evolution (LTE) network. The uplink scheduling is carried out by a scheduler at a base station (e.g., an eNodeB) that receives allocation requests from user equipment (UEs) and assigns resource blocks in the shared channel to the UEs. The scheduler identifies high-interference resource blocks (RBs) in the shared communications channel. The scheduler assigns UEs to portions of the shared channel having high-interference RBs if the error rate expected to result from the assignment falls at or below an error rate threshold. If the expected error rate is greater than the error rate threshold, the scheduler assigns the UE to another portion of the shared channel.

Abstract: In described embodiments, a channel allocation system, such as a white space channel allocation system, employs a server processor and database to record communication characteristics of incumbent service providers licensed or otherwise registered to operate within certain frequency spectrum. The channel allocation system allows registration of licensed service providers, or access to existing licensed service provider databases, to obtain required information of communication characteristics to form protected service contours. Based on the protected service contours, the availability of channels in areas is pre-computed. In addition, unlicensed or unregistered users, such as TV band devices (TVBDs), register with the channel allocation system and request channel lists of channels to operate on with a query. The system performs an iterative search of areas with successively finer resolution and identifies channels that might be included in a channel list in response to the query.

Abstract: A policy control method, a related device and a policy and charging control system in a mobile communication system. The policy control method includes: obtaining description information of two or more sub-flows, wherein the two or more sub-flows belong to a same application; respectively generating policy and charging control PCC rules for the two or more sub-flows according to the description information of the two or more sub-flows; and transmitting at least one generated PCC rule to a PCEF entity or a bearing binding and event report function BBERF entity, so as to perform policy control for the sub-flows by the PCEF entity or the BBERF entity. With the method, device and system according to embodiments of the present invention, a network side entity of the 3GPP network learns that the same application includes multiple sub-flows, and learns the description information of each sub-flow.

Abstract: An AP including a MAC module to designate a predetermined time period to communicate with a plurality of client stations associated with the AP via a channel. The MAC module instructs remaining client stations associated with the AP to not transmit data during the predetermined time period. The MAC module receives, during the predetermined time period, data transmitted by the plurality of client stations without sensing the channel, and receives, at a time other than the predetermined time period, data transmitted by the remaining client stations by sensing the channel. An acknowledgment generating module generates acknowledgements in response to receiving data from the plurality of client stations. The MAC module aggregates the acknowledgements in a single aggregated frame, which includes a plurality of sub-frames, each sub-frame including one of the acknowledgements. The MAC module transmits the single aggregated frame to the plurality of client stations during the predetermined time period.

  • Patent number: 9271191
Abstract: A method and a station are described for transmitting a data frame in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The station obtains a transmission opportunity (TXOP) and transmits, during the TXOP, a preceding data unit of a plurality of data units comprising a control field indicating a selected bandwidth for the preceding data unit. The station selects a transmit bandwidth parameter of a non-initial data unit of the plurality of data units from available bandwidth parameters. The available bandwidth parameters include a first available bandwidth parameter which is same as a transmit bandwidth parameter of the preceding data unit of the plurality of data units and a second available bandwidth parameter which is narrower than a transmit bandwidth parameter of the preceding data unit. The station transmits, during the TXOP, the non-initial data unit, which comprises a control field indicating a selected bandwidth for the non-initial data unit.

Abstract: A method, in a base station, provide a mechanism for observing random access performance in a Long Term Evolution network. The random access performance is defined by an access delay. The access delay is a delay from the initial random access attempt until access is granted. The method comprises receiving a respective report from a plurality of user equipment, where each of the respective user equipment has performed a random access process and received a random access grant. The reactive report includes access delay related random access information. The method includes determining a respective access delay, based on each of the access delay related random access information. The determined access delays are used for the estimation of access delay statistics. The random access performance is observed based on the access delay statistics.

  • Patent number: 9225416
Abstract: Signaling is efficiently sent on a configurable CDMA control segment. To send signaling, transmission parameters for the CDMA control segment for a serving sector are determined. These parameter may indicate the CDMA control segment size, the frames in which the CDMA control segment is sent, the signaling channels to be sent on the CDMA control segment, and so on. The enabled CDMA signaling channels for a terminal and the average transmission interval for each enabled CDMA signaling channel are determined. For each frame in which the CDMA control segment is sent, the signaling channels to be sent on the CDMA control segment in that frame are determined. The signaling for each signaling channel is processed (e.g., encoded, channelized, scaled, and scrambled). The processed signaling for all signaling channels is combined and mapped to a time-frequency region used for the CDMA control segment in the frame.

Abstract: This invention relates to a proposal of an uplink resource assignment format and a downlink resource assignment format. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of the new uplink/downlink resource assignments in methods for (de)activation of downlink component carrier(s) configured for a mobile terminal, a base station and a mobile terminal. To enable efficient and robust (de)activation of component carriers, while minimizing the signaling overhead, the invention proposes a new uplink/downlink resource assignment format that allow the activation/deactivation of individual downlink component carriers configured for a mobile. The new uplink or downlink resource assignment comprises an indication of the activation state of the configured downlink component carriers, i.e. indicate which downlink component carrier(s) is/are to be activated or deactivated.
