Abstract: Each transmitter (4) included in a first transmitter group (40A) transmits, on a first electric wire (2A), a current signal representing a change in current in accordance with a transmission bit sequence. Each transmitter (4) included in a second transmitter group (40B) transmits, on a second electric wire (2B) that is connected in parallel with the first electric wire, a current signal representing a change in current in accordance with a transmission bit sequence. A current detection unit (6A) outputs an electric signal representing a change in a difference current between a first current (IA) flowing through the first electric wire (2A) and a second current (IB) flowing through the second electric wire (2B). A receiver (5A) identifies and receives a reception bit sequence corresponding to the transmission bit sequence of each transmitter (4) included in the first and second transmitter groups, by processing the first electric signal.

  • Patent number: 8879674
Abstract: An approach is provided for correlation of a signal over time and frequency. The signal is correlated with a bit sequence over time instances and certain frequency offsets, wherein sub-segments of the signal are correlated with sub-segments of the bit sequence to generate a correlation factor associated with each signal sub-segment. The correlation factors are coherently combined to generate a final correlation factor, wherein a respective phase shift (for each frequency offset) is applied to each correlation factor to generate a set of frequency adjusted correlation factors, and the frequency adjusted correlation factors of a respective set are combined to generate the final correlation factor over the signal sub-segments, resulting in the matrix of final correlation factors over time and frequency. A signal parameter estimation is performed, based on the matrix of final correlation factors, to determine a highest correlation value for the signal over the frequency offsets.

Abstract: A baseband processing module of a base station includes a Turbo decoding module. The Turbo decoding module decodes a Turbo code word to produce one or more Media Access Control (MAC) packet(s) carried by the turbo decode word. Each MAC packet includes a MAC packet header and the MAC packet payload, which carries one or more Radio Link Control (RLC) Packet Data Units (PDUs). The Turbo decoding module decodes the MAC packet header to determine boundaries of the PDUs carried in the MAC packet payload. The Turbo decoding module decodes RLC PDU headers and RLC PDU payloads of the RLC PDUs. The Turbo decoding module writes the decoded MAC packet header, the decoded RLC PDU headers, and the decoded RLC PDU payloads to memory in a word-aligned format. The Turbo decoding module may also operate in various other Turbo decoding modes.

Abstract: A method for estimating a scrambling code used on an uplink of a WCDMA system. The scrambling code is obtained from a Gold code, sum of a first specific M-sequence of the user and of a second M-sequence known from the receiver. After sampling of the signal received at the chip frequency of the scrambling code, the successive samples are subject to a differential treatment and the sequence of differential values is multiplied by the second M-sequence. The observables thereby obtained are decoded with the aid of a belief propagation iterative decoding. The decoded values then serve to determine the content of the shift register of the generator of the first M-sequence. One then deduces therefrom the Gold code and an estimation of the scrambling code, ?.

  • Patent number: 8854944
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for interference cancellation in a wireless communication system. In particular, the disclosed methods and apparatus provide for interference cancellation in a wireless device, including extending linear interference cancellation techniques, such as quasi-linear interference cancellation (QLIC), in the wireless device to a first orthogonal set, which may be a first quasi orthogonal function (QOF) set for a cdma2000 system to cancel interference from that set upon another desired QOF set. QLIC may also be extended to cancellation of signals from non-intended base stations as well. Accordingly, the present methods and apparatus afford reduced interference through QLIC by canceling signals due to either undesired QOF sets or non-intended base stations, which in turn results in an increase in forward link capacity.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in a wireless communication system that enable the use of multi-codeword transmission and ACK/NACK compression with low performance loss. It also enables the use of advanced receivers of reasonable complexity. This is achieved by a solution based on the even distribution of the symbols of separately coded blocks of information bits over the available physical resources before transmission. Each physical resource will thus carry a mixture of symbols from all blocks of information bits, which results in a more similar channel quality for the blocks of information bits. A compressed ACK/NACK message corresponding to the blocks of information bits will thus be more accurate and the performance loss due to the ACK/NACK compression can be reduced.

Abstract: A code-division multiplexing (CDM) system utilized in multi-channel (MC) front-end integrated circuits to significantly reduce the power consumption of such systems. The CDM system extends data compression advantages to uncorrelated and weakly correlated MC signals through the introduction of a new Multi-Channel Signal Binning and Multiplexing (MCSBM) method and architecture. The method achieves significant reductions in power consumption in comparison to a conventional time-division multiplexing quantizer, while adding only a modest amount of overhead and complexity. Systems and methods permit architects to fabricate MC integrated circuits with ultra low power consumption and small chip area. Another embodiment relates to the system's compressor organizing samples of the input signal in such a way that the downstream analog-to-digital converter quantizes the higher variance samples with a higher resolution compared to the resolution it uses to quantize other samples with lower variance.

Abstract: Improvements are disclosed for in-band signaling, i.e., transmission of data in a voice channel of a digital wireless network during a voice call session. A family of narrow-band signaling methods, some employing tapered waveforms, is disclosed to successfully pass data-carrying signals through the low-bit rate modes of the EVRC-B vocoder commonly used in CDMA wireless channels. These features can be used in cell phones or other wireless communication devices, including automotive applications.

  • Patent number: 8576787
Abstract: Block spreading generating partial orthogonality is applied for the uplink control channel for E-UTRA. For instance, a problem of maximizing the multiplexing capacity leads to numerology causing odd-length sequences which do not have the favorable property of even-length sequences (partial orthogonality). The consequence of this is poor performance in cases of high Doppler effects. Maximal multiplexing capacity is taught without loss of performance at high Doppler by modifying an earlier scheduling request scheme. The earlier SR multiplexing scheme has a number of parallel SR resources per slot equal to 12*7=84. In one example, the spreading factor of block spreading is changed to an even number, e.g., from 7 to 6. This enables usage of the partial orthogonality properties of CAZAC sequences and as a result inter-code interference in the case of high Doppler is reduced. Other ways to generate partial orthogonality are shown with similar results.

  • Patent number: 8539308
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for indicating a temporary block flow (TBF) to which a piggybacked acknowledgement/non-acknowledgement (PAN) field is addressed. A method and apparatus of performing receive processing to reduce the probability of false acceptance of erroneous PANs are also disclosed. A transmit station generates a PAN check sequence (PCS) and performs a channel coding on a PAN field and the PCS. The transmit station scrambles the encoded bits of the PAN field and the PCS with a TBF-specific scrambling code. Because of the scrambling, the PCS decoding at a receive station will pass if the data block is received by an intended receive station, while the PCS decoding will fail if received by a non-intended receive station. Alternatively, the scrambling may be performed before the channel coding. Alternatively, the transmit station may combine the PAN field and a temporary flow identity (TFI) to generate a PCS.
