Abstract: A speaker box for a sport utility vehicle. The speaker box is pivotally mounted to the sports bar of the vehicle and can be selectively pivoted relative to the bar to a plurality of positions. In one position, the sound from the speakers of the speaker box is directed downwardly as in convention designs. However, unlike conventional designs, the speaker box and its sound can also be directed rearwardly of the vehicle for parties and other gatherings such as at campsites or on the beach. Further, the speaker box and its sound can be directed slightly forward toward the front of the vehicle if desired. In doing so, a saddle or cutout is provided in the middle of the speaker box so as not to unduly inhibit the driver's vision through the rear view mirror.

Abstract: A lay-in tile type system is disclosed for supporting speakers in a new or existing suspended ceiling includes a perforated base section providing maximum free air space. A perforated surface also helps the lay-in tile system blend in with the overall suspended ceiling in which the system is installed. The system further provides integral flanges that form a T-shaped member to support at least a portion of an adjacent ceiling tile, obviating the need to purchase, cut and install a replacement grid member. The base and the flanges are constructed from a single sheet of material that is folded to form the flanges. The base is sized to fit within a portion of a conventional ceiling tile grid opening, and has substantially ninety degree comers so that the ceiling grid opening is completed by a ceiling tile sized with a simple straight cut, simplifying installation.

Abstract: A speaker apparatus having a first half and a second half, each having a rim and being generally paraboloid shaped, or bowl-shaped. A first opening, or window, is positioned near a vertex of the first half. A second opening is positioned near a vertex of the second half, and a grille positioned within the second opening. A mid-range component may be positioned within the first opening. When the apparatus is assembled, the respective rims of the first and second halves engage to form a generally hollow chamber therebetween.

Abstract: A notebook personal computer machine includes a first casing containing a computer (CPU), a second casing capable of swinging about the associated hinge portions relative to the first casing, and further a third casing containing speakers and disposed on opposite lateral side edges of the second casing, swinging about the associated hinge portions relative to the second casing. It is adapted to cover the corresponding lateral side edges of the first casing when the second casing is completely folded (closed) onto the first casing. This permits a larger speaker to be mounted externally without modifying the physical size of the hardware machine, with the box containing the speaker being adjustable to any angle such that the exposed portions of the floppy disk drive and so on installed inside the machine body can be protected adequately against any possible scratches, dusts and the like.
