Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for performing speaker verification. A system configured to practice the method receives a request to verify a speaker, generates a text challenge that is unique to the request, and, in response to the request, prompts the speaker to utter the text challenge. Then the system records a dynamic image feature of the speaker as the speaker utters the text challenge, and performs speaker verification based on the dynamic image feature and the text challenge. Recording the dynamic image feature of the speaker can include recording video of the speaker while speaking the text challenge. The dynamic feature can include a movement pattern of head, lips, mouth, eyes, and/or eyebrows of the speaker. The dynamic image feature can relate to phonetic content of the speaker speaking the challenge, speech prosody, and the speaker's facial expression responding to content of the challenge.

Abstract: Identity caddy for real-time determination of identity in the mobile environment. The identity caddy offers a means for expanding protection beyond what a password can provide by establishing actual identity through biometric features and behavior characteristics. Furthermore, identity is established from multiple sources (including biometrics as well as locational and environmental factors), and once the identify caddy obtains this information, it corroborates identity by considering them all in tandem through fusion. In an aspect, identity is built from several measures, including biometric features as well as non-biometric features, such as location and travel patterns. Melding identity with portable devices opens the door to numerous new applications for transaction and access controls rooted in identity and supporting commerce, as well as many forms of physical and cyber-security.

Abstract: A database comprising biometric data stored in encrypted form is managed by a management unit. It comprises a set of filters respectively associated with filter identifiers. A biometric data item is received at a management unit; next, said biometric data item is stored in an encrypted form at a given address in the database. Then keywords are obtained on the basis of a first set of hash functions and of the biometric data item. A subset of indexing filters is associated with each keyword by selecting, for each keyword, filters as a function of the respectively associated filter identifiers, of said keywords, and of a second set of hash functions; and the given address is associated with each of the filters of the subset of filters.

  • Patent number: 8670597
Abstract: A facial recognition search system identifies one or more likely names (or other personal identifiers) corresponding to the facial image(s) in a query as follows. After receiving the visual query with one or more facial images, the system identifies images that potentially match the respective facial image in accordance with visual similarity criteria. Then one or more persons associated with the potential images are identified. For each identified person, person-specific data comprising metrics of social connectivity to the requester are retrieved from a plurality of applications such as communications applications, social networking applications, calendar applications, and collaborative applications. An ordered list of persons is then generated by ranking the identified persons in accordance with at least metrics of visual similarity between the respective facial image and the potential image matches and with the social connection metrics.

  • Publication number: 20140064575
Abstract: A method for biometric recognition may be employed on multiple biometrics, including irises and ears. The method includes decomposing the radiometric profile of each line of an image into a plurality of wavelets using a wavelet transform process. A unique signal is calculated using the plurality of wavelets. A template is assembled using the signal and areas of interest in the template are identified. The template is then compared to a second template using the plurality of areas of interest.

Abstract: At least two biometric measurements of a person are collected, then a statistical measure based on the measurements is computed. The statistical measure is a bounded estimate of the discriminative power of a test based on the measurements. While the discriminative power is less than a target value, additional biometric measurements are collected. When enough measurements have been collected, a biometric template is constructed from the measurements and stored for use in future identifications. Systems and software to implement similar methods are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8660370
Abstract: Clustering algorithms such as k-means clustering algorithm are used in applications that process entities with spatial and/or temporal characteristics, for example, media objects representing audio, video, or graphical data. Feature vectors representing characteristics of the entities are partitioned using clustering methods that produce results sensitive to an initial set of cluster seeds. The set of initial cluster seeds is generated using principal component analysis of either the complete feature vector set or a subset thereof. The feature vector set is divided into a desired number of initial clusters and a seed determined from each initial cluster.
