Abstract: An apparatus for securing mail deliveries is disclosed, including a container dimensioned to receive a mail item. The container includes an opening dimensioned to receive the mail item which is stored within the interior of the perimeter. A frame is provided around the perimeter of the opening having one or more joints to permit the frame to open and close the opening of the container. The frame includes one or more supports having a U-shaped portion to hang from a door. A locking mechanism is in communication with the frame to securely lock the frame in a closed configuration.

Abstract: Various systems and methods relate to an adaptive chair system having (i) a stowed mode in which the members of the chair frame are contained within a compact flexible multi-function bag (MFB), and (ii) a deployed mode in which the MFB is adapted to releasably couple to an arm of the chair to provide a multipurpose accessory chamber. In an illustrative example, the MFB may, for example, fold in on itself in an accessory mode. The MFB may provide various utilities for hikers, for example, by providing a case to receive an inflatable bladder so as to form a pillow. The MFB may receive a thermal liner adapted to maintain, for example, food or beverage temperature. Various embodiments may advantageously provide a rugged, water resistant MFB system in an ultralight form factor that serves as a multipurpose accessory (e.g., to store items), yet provides a compact, adaptive chair frame containment.

Abstract: A card body for a portable data carrier, in particular a chip card or magnetic strip card, and a method for manufacturing a card body. The card body includes at least a coextruded foil having at least two areas with different material properties. By using coextruded foils a card body consisting of a plurality of alternating opaque and transmissive strips as well as a card body with a window can be formed in a simple fashion.

Abstract: Weather-resistant charcoal bags are formed from a woven thermoplastic layer and optionally having a barrier film layer. The charcoal bags can also have a flat bottom for improved advertising.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for protecting a device from water damage. The apparatus is capable of being repeatedly opened and then hermetically sealed even when the device has a wire that must be extended outside of the apparatus. The present invention comprises a housing having at least two members that, when juxtaposed and clamped, form a dry interior region. More specifically, each member includes a pair of gaskets that together define the dry interior region and substantially form a hermetic seal about a pouch or container. The apparatus includes a portal through which the wire may extend from a device inside the pouch or container to the outside and a slide mechanism that adjust a gasket around the wire to maintain the dry interior region. The slide mechanism forms a hermetic seal around the wire so that the opening in the pouch from which the wire extends is hermetically sealed. If no wire is present, the slide mechanism may be adjusted to maintain the hermetic seal.

Abstract: The invention relates to a bag used for the placement of concrete or grout, either hand placed or pump filled, in and around watercourses. The bags are impermeable and contained in nature, made of biodegradable, degradable or water soluble polymer film, typically made from renewable starch based polymers or water soluble polymers. The bags offer a means of easily and simply placing concrete or grout, safely, cleanly and without risk of contamination to the watercourse or environment from cement leakage, being impermeable in nature, whilst allowing the polymer film to safely degrade, dissolve or disintegrate, in the environment, without the risk of unsightly or environmentally detrimental polythene waste being placed in the watercourse.

Abstract: The invention teaches a new type of mesh bag suitable for machine packaging. The first end of the mesh bag is a reserved opening for filling and sealing. The second end of the mesh bag includes a one-pull, easy-open mechanism and a re-closing mechanism. The re-closing mechanism is a drawstring perforating around the second end of the mesh bag. The one-pull, easy open mechanism is a line of easy open stitches which sews a small strip of hard paper with the wall of the mesh bag at its second end. The two mechanisms can be pre-set in parallel or integrated in a same line with the small strip of the hard paper overlaid on the drawstring.

Abstract: A security bag for displaying items of merchandise includes a mesh bag formed of metal wire providing an internal storage chamber. A two-piece member locking device is attached to an open end of the bag. A magnetically attachable locking tine is mounted in one of the members and engages a locking projection on the second member which is slidably received into the first member to lock the bag in a closed position protecting the stored merchandise from theft. An EAS tag is secured within one of the locking members. A magnetic key moves the locking tine to an unlocked position when placed adjacent the locking tine enabling the two locking members to be separated into an unlocked position and the bag open end spread apart for removing items therefrom.

Abstract: The application describes a closeable bag, pouch or container with an opening which can be closed by means of a lock unit which cooperates with a disposable locking member to close the bag, pouch or container. The opening has first and second opposing sides. The lock unit is on the first side of the opening and has first and second apertures. The second side has first and second apertures corresponding to those of the lock unit. The locking member has first and second protrusions for location in the apertures of the lock unit and the second side of the opening. The second side is clamped between the locking member and the lock unit. At least the second protrusion of the locking member has a configuration such that it locks into the second aperture of the lock unit. The locking member has a line of weakness running between the protrusions such that the first protrusion can be disengaged from the lock unit in a first step and the second protrusion can be disengaged from the lock unit in a second step.

Abstract: A device for the closure and sealing of envelopes and the like. First and second elongated strips of plastic material are foldable upon each other along a narrow longitudinal hinge line. The first strip has a series of locking pins distributed along its length. Each of the locking pins has a weakened base. The second strip is provided with a series of sockets adapted for receiving respective locking pins in locking relation therein. To permit the device to be opened easily when it has been applied to a plastic envelope with the locking pins penetrating orifices formed along the two borders at the mouth of the envelope, at least a part along the length of the longitudinal hinge line is weakened starting from a first end, and each strip is provided, at its first end, with an appendage capable of being held between the fingers of the user.

Abstract: A flexible, gussetted package and method of making it. The package has an interior for initially holding some product, e.g., whole coffee bean or ground coffee, under vacuum, and which includes a mouth portion arranged to be peeled open to provide access to the contents of the package. The package is formed of a flexible material and includes a front panel, a rear panel, and a pair of opposed side gussets. The panels and gussets each include a top portion, which between them define the package's mouth. A peelable closure is provided within the mouth. A snap closure is provided above the peelable closure. The package is arranged to be sealed under vacuum, with the peelable closure maintaining the vacuum within the package until it is peeled open. The snap closure comprises a pair of snap strip members secured to respective portions of the front and rear panel.

Abstract: A containment system is described which is useful for the containment of bodily fluids, such as emesis or urine. The fluid containment system is a flexible polymeric bag, preferably polyethylene, of unitary construction having a closed end and a large, normally open, reinforced, "fish mouth" open end through which fluid is introduced into the bag, the reinforced open end having a press and seal closure mechanism. In one embodiment, a strap secures the bag, which is normally in the open or receiving position, around the neck of a person. In another embodiment, straps secure the bag to a belt or belt loops for the collection of urine. In operation, the bag is affixed to the body with a strap which is attached to the (normally open) end of the bag. If the bag is to be used for the collection of emesis, the strap is hung around the neck and dimensioned to position the bag below the chin. The open end of the bag is normally open to receive fluids.

Abstract: A re-usable device for closing bags and the like, which may be sealed in a locked configuration by applying a security seal (24). The device (1) comprises two elongate parts (2, 3) the may be superimposed on each other, The first part (2), which is attached along one side of the mouth of a bag to be closed, is provided with a series of locking pins (6, 6') that--on closing the bag--pass into corresponding orifices (9) in the second part the which is attached along an opposite side of the mouth of the bag. The device is locked in this bag closed configuration by means of locking elements (13, 13') that slide longitudinally along internal passages (8, 8') in the second part until the reach a position where they lock the locking pins (6, 6'). The locking elements (13, 13') may be sealed in such configuration by applying a security seal (24).

Abstract: The invention provides a disposable litter bag system comprising a holder with a clip for holding a bundle of tear-off bags. Each bag is provided with a flap adjacent to a top opening in the bag having at least one flap opening for insertion therethrough of engaging tabs projecting from the clip. The clip has opposed jaws hingedly connected together, with engaging stops projecting from one jaw and a receiving channel formed in the second jaw for detachably lodging the engaging stops therein. The holder preferably comprises a pair of flexible straps extending through the clip which can be trapped in the clearance between the panels of an automobile cabin, for example the glove compartment.

Abstract: A reusable lunch bag with a pair of handles that are adapted to secure the bag in a closed position. The bag has a front wall that is separated from a back wall by a pair of side walls. The front, back and side walls are attached to a bottom wall. The walls define a cavity within the bag. The side walls and bottom wall are adapted to be collapsed so that the bag can be pressed into a flat position. The bag is typically constructed from a foam that is encapsulated by vinyl material, which together create a thermal barrier. The lunch bag also has a first handle that extends from the front wall and a second handle that extends from the back wall. The second handle has a flap which wraps around the outer surface of the first handle, so that the flap is adjacent to the outer surface of the second handle. The inner surface of the flap and the outer surface of the second handle have hook and loop material which secure the handle and bag in a closed position.

Abstract: A multi-purpose eyeglasses pouch includes a pouch body formed from a rectangular piece of cloth and having three sides provided with a row of evenly distributed holes. The pouch body is folded so as to align the holes in two opposite sides of the pouch body and so as to cause the holes in the remaining side to overlap. A fastening unit includes a pair of first flexible strips and a pair of second flexible strips. One of the first flexible strips is formed with a row of holes which are aligned with the holes formed in the two opposite sides, while the other one of the first flexible strips is formed with a row of projections which extend into the holes in the two opposite sides and which engage releasably the holes in the other first flexible strip so as to join the two opposite sides of the pouch body.

Abstract: The subject invention provides a package for a heat seal sensitive polymer comprising a thermoplastic bag sealed at one end with a thermoplastic polymeric thread, both the thermoplastic bag material and the thermoplastic thread material having a melt temperature at or below the processing temperature of the heat seal sensitive polymer.

Abstract: A security envelope for transporting confidential papers or money is disclosed having a high degree of security, being easy to close and seal as well as simple to manufacture. The envelope of the invention is provided with a closure and seal device having a first part extended along one side of the opening thereof, external of the envelope, such part being formed with a series of long pins distributed along its length. The pins pass through both sides of the envelope along a line adjacent to the opening to be received and locked in locking sockets formed in a second part extended along the opening on the other side of the envelope. The two parts of the closure and seal device are preferably hinged together along corresponding londitudinal edges so that when closed, the hinge lies along the opening so as to prevent access to the interior of the envelope through the spaces between the pins.

Abstract: A shipping sack having side walls defining a mouth from which contents may be discharged, includes a non-reclosable stitched fastener across and closing the mouth. The stitched fastener includes a removable chain stitch and a removable rip tape for facilitating manual opening of the stitched fastener. The rip tape is composed of a strip having a cut-out opening therethrough defining a handle adapted to be manually grasped for carry the shipping sack. The rip tape also includes a free end extending beyond the edge of the shipping sack to facilitate manual access to the rip tape and to facilitate pulling the rip tape to remove the stitched fastener.

Abstract: A combined package and display system for fabric goods includes a transparent or translucent polyethylene package, heat sealed or otherwise secured about its periphery, containing the goods and suitable advertising material. Where the product is, for example, a tarpaulin, also of polyethylene and having grommets about its periphery, and the package is formed so that its top edge is constructed as a means for attachment to a supporting surface and contains grommets of similar material and strength as those contained in the product itself. In this way, the package can be mounted for display purposes by its grommets, while the nature and quality of the grommets of the goods can be tangibly observed and felt by the prospective purchaser.

Abstract: A fastener is provided which is useful with a flexible article having a plurality of orifices, such as a conventional laundry bag. The fastener is adapted to be held in one of the orifices and thus carried with the bag for immediate availability. The fastener comprises an elongated body with one and an other spaced apart ends. A medial portion interconnects a flexible strap and a shank of the body. A bore is at the one end into which a leading tip at the other end is adapted to be releasably associated.
