Abstract: A vibration damping adjustable support for machines. A base plate supports elastically a machine. A bearing element is disposed below the base plate for supporting the base plate and an adjustment device is provided for changing the supporting condition of the bearing element. A regulating provision is furnished for effecting a change in the support conditions for a shafting arrangement of an elastically supported machine by way of changing the supporting forces. Depending on the deviations from a set point value found with a surveying measurement device the supporting force of spring bodies disposed below the base plate are changed until the set point is reached again. In this manner relatively small deformations of foundations of the base plate can be achieved by way of relatively large adjustment distances at the elastic supporting element for aligning and realigning of shafting arrangements.

Abstract: Assembly of a small electric motor is facilitated by pre-assembling each coil with a support bearing and a corresponding pole piece, as well as with the cylindrical magnetic coil housing. Each support bearing includes a pair of radially-extending hooks which engage corresponding edges on the inner bore of each coil to properly align the components. The thusly pre-assembled stator sub-assembly may be inverted to receive the rotor assembly.
Abstract: In a method for aligning multiple shaft supporting journal bearings without mechanical shimming, the shaft itself is employed as the aligning element for the journal bearings. Misalignment and spacing differences and discontinuities between the bases of the journal bearings and the respective supporting surfaces are accommodated by a curable and incompressible when cured compound placed therebetween which compound conforms with such spacing differences and discontinuities prior to curing.

Abstract: The self-locking threaded bearing is an externally threaded tubular member having a discontinuous thread to form thread sections which are spaced-apart axially on the bearing. In the bearing assembly, the thread sections engage portions of an internal thread in a bore of a housing for the bearing and, with the internal thread being more ductile than the thread sections of the bearing, portions of the internal thread are stripped to pack into the space between the thread sections and assist in locking the bearing into the housing.In the method of making the self-locking threaded bearing assembly, a tubular bearing is provided with a discontinuous external thread and a housing is formed with a bore having an internal thread of the same pitch as the external thread of the bearing and of material more ductile than that of the external thread.
Abstract: A fifth wheel assembly for coupling tractor and trailer units includes an improved trunnion bracket, comprising a pair of forged bearing caps having an inverted, U-shaped configuration, with bearing sleeves fixedly mounted therein. In sliding fifth wheel embodiments of the present invention, the bearing caps are mounted on rectangular channels fabricated from two L-shaped channel members with a flat plate attached to the upper edges of the L-shaped channels. An improved plunger is provided for adjustably connecting the trunnioned fifth wheel assembly with a base plate on which slotted racks have been mounted, and comprises a forged, two-prong construction with internal guides which minimizes structural disruption in the channels to provide greater strength. Adjustable stops are mounted on the exterior ends of the plungers, and abut the exterior sides of the racks to accurately maintain the plungers in a locked position.

Abstract: A bearing mount in which the bearing seat has uniform structure without slots or cutouts. A bearing is snapped into the seat by distorting an unsupported end of the seat. The seat may be distorted beyond its elastic limit, and after aligning the bearing axis of rotation and the seat axis, the distorted end of the seat may grip the bearing in two point contact to prevent rotation of the bearing in the seat.

The transverse restrained, longitudinally flexible mount also includes a frame member having an inner cylindrical band mechanically coupled to the inner ring, an outer cylindrical band mechanically coupled to the outer ring and a plurality of hollow cylindrical spokes extending radially from the axis of the frame member for providing lateral rigidity between the inner and outer cylindrical bands so that the inner and outer cylindrical bands are concentric with each other and the axis of the spindle.
Abstract: A film-treatment device has two spaced and generally parallel mounting plates each having a pair of plate holes and respective pairs of journals in the plate holes having respective journal holes centered on a pair of journal axes. The journal holes of the plates are coaxial with each other and the two journal axes are parallel. Rollers centered on respective roller axes each have a pair of substantially cylindrical end trunnions centered on the respective roller axis and rotatably received in a respective one of the journal holes for rotation of the respective roller therein with its roller axis coaxial with the respective journal axis. The journals of one of the journal axes are constructed so the respective roller can move against spring force limitedly away from the other roller.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine having a cylinder block, comprises a bearing support beam structure secured to the cylinder block and including a plurality of main bearing carrying sections which are made of aluminum allow and incorporate with the corresponding sections of the cylinder block to rotatably support a crankshaft, and a steel pipe securely disposed within and in a manner to pierce the main bearing carrying sections, thereby lightening the weight of the entire engine, increasing the flexural rigidity of the cylinder block.
Abstract: There is disclosed a combined thrust and support bearing arrangement wherein the shaft line can be constructed to be relatively short and wherein there does not arise any lifting of the turbine housing. The support or journal bearing and the thrust bearing are arranged in a respective bearing support within a common housing. Holders or holder elements are arranged at the bearing support of the support bearing over its circumference. These holder elements piercingly extend without contact through the bearing support of the thrust bearing. A common oil supply is provided for the thrust bearing and the support or journal bearing.
