  • Patent number: 4958941
Abstract: A support unit serving as a support bearing includes an angular ball bearing. An inner race of the bearing is held by a step portion of a shaft to receive a load in a direction of thrust. An outer race of the bearing has a flange protruding from the outer peripheral surface radially at one end portion of the outer race. The outer race is fixed by a housing by making one end face of the housing abut against the flange. The inner race of the bearing is fixed by clamping a nut which engages a threaded portion of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4941760
Abstract: A rotor assembly consists of a rotor shaft having a shoulder, turbine wheel, inner ring of a ball bearing and spacer having an end face cooperating with the shoulder to clamp therebetween the inner ring. An aspect of the present invention resides in that a perpendicularity of the end face relative to a center axis of the spacer is equal to or smaller than 0.1% of an inner diameter of the spacer. A clearance is provided between the rotor shaft and the spacer so that the spacer is secured by press fitting to the rotor shaft only at the opposite end portions. Another aspect of the present invention resides in that the rotor assembly is constructed so as to satisfy at least one of the following two factors, i.e., (I) a volume of the clearance is equal to or smaller than 2% of that of an inner space of the spacer and (II) (D2-D1) is equal to or smaller than 2% of D1 where D1 is an outer diameter of the rotor shaft and D2 is an inner diameter of the spacer.

  • Patent number: 4915513
Abstract: Rollers (9a) having a frustoconical lateral wall interposed between two raceways (4, 6) of two rings (1, 2) alternate with rollers (9b) interposed between two other raceways (3, 7) of the rings (1, 2). A crown region (11) of the large base of each roller slides against the confronting raceway (7) or (6) on the outer ring (2). Crown regions (11) of the rollers (9a, 9b) of each series of rollers substantially pertain to a common ideal sphere (Sx,Sy) centered on a common apex (X, Y) toward which converges the lateral walls of the rollers of the same series and the associated raceways. The angle made between the two raceways of the outer ring is less than 90.degree.. By this arrangement is achieved, between the crown region of each roller and the raceway against which the crown region bears, a contact (T) distributed along a segment of a circle centered on the axis of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4906110
Abstract: A bearing unit has rolling elements separated by floating solid-lubricant spacers which interfit with the roller elements. When the rolling elements are rollers, the ends of the rollers are lubricated by solid lubricant caps on the rollers, or by end portions of the spacer which overlap the roller ends, or by end ring members of solid-lubricant material. If the bearing unit includes a cage, floating solid-lubricant spacers are located between the cage dividers and the rolling elements.

  • Patent number: 4906113
Abstract: A slew ring bearing for coupling the superstructure of a large piece of heavy equipment to the base having an inner ring attachable to the underside of the superstructure and an outer ring having gear teeth on its outer cylindrical surface concentric with the inner ring and attachable to a stationary base frame. An upper and lower V-groove are found in an outer cylindrical face of the inner ring. Corresponding upper and lower V-grooves are formed on an inner cylindrical face of the outer ring positioned opposite corresponding upper and lower V-grooves on the inner ring so as to form in combination therewith associated upper and lower roller bearing raceways. A plurality of rolling elements are positioned in the upper and lower raceways so as to permit rotation of the inner ring relative to the outer ring. A plurality of bronze spacers are positioned with one spacer between each pair of rollers.

  • Patent number: 4902144
Abstract: An improved bearing assembly is provided for axially retaining journal bearings in a turbocharger. The turbocharger includes a center housing having an elongated bearing bore for receiving an axially spaced pair of journal bearings which in turn support a rotatable turbocharger shaft. Lubricating oil is supplied through the center housing for passage to the shaft-bearing interface through radially open oil flow ports formed in the journal bearings. A bearing spacer is interposed axially between the journal bearings such that the opposite ends of the bearing spacer define a pair of thrust surfaces for engaging and locating the axially inboard faces of the journal bearings. Additional thrust surfaces are formed on thrust members carried by the turbocharger shaft to engage and locate the axially outboard faces of the journal bearings.

  • Patent number: 4896974
Abstract: A crossed roller rolling contact bearing assembly includes a pair of first and second members which move relative to each other, a guide channel defined between the first and second members and a plurality of rollers provided in the guide channel in a crossed arrangement with a spacer interposed between any two adjacent rollers. The spacer has a generally spherical outer peripheral surface and a pair of recessed, arc-shaped guide surfaces which have generatrix lines extending perpendicular to each other. Becuase of the spherical outer shape of the spacer, a generally wedge-shaped space is defined between the roller and the spacer so that a quantity of lubricant may be reserved therein to keep the guide channel sufficiently lubricated at all times.

  • Patent number: 4893948
Abstract: A device for mounting a bearing having an inner ring with a conical bore on a bearing seat having a conical clamping sleeve which, on the side of its large diameter, projects axially beyond the inner ring, comprising a spacer (12) positionable loosely on the end surface (13) of the inner ring (1) on the side of the clamping sleeve projection (A), the thickness of the spacer being less than that of the projection (A) in the preassembled state by an amount equal to the stroke (B) required to press in the clamping sleeve (9), the spacer thus limiting the distance (B) of the inward stroke.

  • Patent number: 4820060
Abstract: A high precision, two-row ball bearing wherein the inner races of the two rows are worked into the shaft and there are respective outer rings around the rows of balls. A spacer bushing is axially disposed between the outer rings. The spacer bushing is of a single piece with an axial slot extending along its length. The slot has a width approximately equal to the diameter of the shaft. The center of the diameter of the bore of the spacer bushing is offset from the center point of the diameter of the external periphery of the spacer bushing, whereby the spacer bushing is radially thinnest opposite the axial slot and thickens toward the slot for balancing the mass of the spacer bushing with the material removed from the slot. A housing bushing surrounds the spacer bushing and the outer rings.

  • Patent number: 4588311
Abstract: A bearing for oscillating angular movement including inner and outer bearing parts with rollers therebetween, and with one or more swivel members between at least some of the adjacent rollers. Each swivel member comprises a central part of smaller diameter than a roller, and inwardly and outwardly extending portions having supporting faces which engage the inner and outer bearing parts. Because each swivel member occupies a smaller space circumferentially of the bearing than does an individual roller, the total number of members available to transmit loads between the inner and outer bearing parts is increased, thereby improving the capacity of the bearing. The bearings are particularly useful for Hookes universal joints.

  • Patent number: 4583793
Abstract: Each individual roller member is seated in its own cage element which freely abuts only equivalent or similar type neighboring cage elements. Each roller member can only protrude from the cage element with its rolling surface which prevents damage to the recirculating raceway while ensuring a proper rolling motion of the roller members upon the bearing raceway. The end faces of the cage elements contribute to this effect, too, and can also ensure a proper mutual support of the cage elements in all situations. In addition to a reduction of friction, both an increase of longevity and a damping effect can also be achieved.
