Abstract: A method of automatic announcer voice removal from a televised sporting event. A sound processing circuit divides an audio input signal of a televised sporting event into multiple audio segments. The audio input signal includes crowd noise and announcer commentary. If an audio segment does not exceed a pre-defined amplitude threshold, a voice removal utility adds the audio segment to a recent crowd noise library and stores the segment in an output buffer. If the amplitude of a segment exceeds the threshold, the utility adds the segment to a recent announcer voice library. The sound processing circuit generates an attenuated version of the segment and blends the attenuated version with one or more mixed segments from the recent crowd noise library. The voice removal utility stores the attenuated and blended segment in the output buffer and outputs one or more audio segments from the buffer in a chronological order.

  • Patent number: 8914818
Abstract: Techniques and architecture are disclosed for managing power use during operation of an electronic device capable of processing and/or playback of audio and/or video (AV) content. In some instances, the disclosed techniques/architecture can be used, for example: (1) to stop decoding and/or rendering of AV content upon detecting that a user wishes to stop or is otherwise unable to consume (e.g., hear/listen to or otherwise utilize) such AV content; and/or (2) to continue/re-enable decoding and/or rendering of AV content upon detecting that a user wishes or is otherwise able to continue/resume consumption thereof. In some cases, use of the disclosed techniques/architecture may reduce central processing unit (CPU) cycles, audio digital signal processing (DSP), rendering hardware usage, etc., and/or otherwise make more efficient use of battery charge, and thus may realize an improvement in battery life, for example, for a mobile/battery-operated device capable of AV processing and/or playback.

Abstract: A data recording/playback configuration whereby data compatible with a standard such as the BD standard, AVCHD standard, or the like, and data incompatible with a standard are usable together is realized. In the event that recorded data is data compatible with a standard such as the BD standard, AVCHD standard, or the like at the time of data recording processing as to a medium, the management information of the recorded data is recorded in a management information file only for data compatible with a standard, and in the event that the recorded data is data incompatible with a standard, a URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) that is file identification information to be applied to playback of recorded data is recorded in a file list. Playback processing is performed by using the management information file only for data compatible with a standard at the time of playback of data compatible with a standard, and by applying the file list at the time of playback of data incompatible with a standard.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer storage mediums are provided for requesting a geo-referenced interactive tour using media objects collected from a plurality of users. An exemplary method includes accessing a plurality of selected user profiles. Each user profile is associated with one or more users. Media objects hosted by the selected user profiles are clustered into trip segments based on a velocity value associated with each media object. Geo-referenced data for at least one trip segment is collected based on a first and last media object associated with the trip segment. The trip segments are combined into the digital video. Each trip segment is rendered to include its associated media objects and geo-referenced data. Each trip segment is rendered according to a presentation style that is selected based on its associated media objects.

  • Patent number: 8909026
Abstract: Available storage media capacity for personal video recording increases continuously. metadata can be used to organize the recordings, search for content and access specific recordings. If metadata are embedded within the multimedia content itself, like DVB specific Service Information, which are multiplexed with the audio and video streams to form a MPEG-2 transport stream, a search based on this metadata would require an inefficient and time consuming search through all multimedia content stored. According to the invention metadata information is gathered, analyzed and processed to form metadata entities, which are amended by a reference to the content itself. A descriptor stream is formed from the resulting pairs of metadata entities and references to the content and is stored separately from the files comprising multimedia content. In this way, for data of an MPEG-2 transport stream the metadata can be accessed without a need to reparse the entire stream.

Abstract: A method for providing improved performance in retrieving and classifying causal sets of events from an unstructured signal can comprise applying a temporal-causal analysis to the unstructured signal. The temporal-causal analysis can comprise representing the occurrence times of visual events from an unstructured signal as a set of point processes. An exemplary embodiment can comprise interpreting a set of visual codewords produced by a space-time-dictionary representation of the unstructured video sequence as the set of point processes. A nonparametric estimate of the cross-spectrum between pairs of point processes can be obtained. In an exemplary embodiment, a spectral version of the pairwise test for Granger causality can be applied to the nonparametric estimate to identify patterns of interactions between visual codewords and group them into semantically meaningful independent causal sets.
